Take it all away!

Post  iberlingirl on Wed Dec 03, 2008 9:47 am

I cannot think of his name (starts with a B) he shot himself in the leg in a club.
IMO, he needs to be an example to other players and children who look up to him. I say take it all, the contract, the ability to play, the money, etc. Some of these "sports players" are sooo out of line and no one seems to be stopping them. The millions they get is not just to "play" when they become a player. There are far too many waiting in line that would take the whole "player" seriously.

It was Plaxico Burress (a former pissburgh squeeler, no less); and I agree with you Iber! I give credit to the NY Giants for putting him on the Non-Football Injury List, which means he's done for the rest of the season (including any post season games). I wish the Bengals owner - Mike Brown - would take a page from their book and do the same with Chad Johnson and Chris Henry.

What the heck is the Bengals problem anyway? I think that if Chad Johnson had never played on that team they would be better off... I'm glad the bengals are losing because we dont have to hear much about CJ running his mouth...

Take it all away? No f'ing way. Not as long as Pacman Jones is still in the league.

If you're going to "take it all away" you have to start with the REAL criminals first. Michael Vick (check), Pacman Jones (still playing), 86% of the Bengals roster (still playing).

That would be like sentencing the first time drug offender to life in prison and letting the dealer, with a prior record/history, off with probation.

Two words: Mike Brown. Only one thing has remained constant in the 18 years of futility (minus 1 year of 2005), and that is Mike Brown. He 'thinks' he's a general manager, but when asked recently what went wrong this year, he responded that part of the problem was they lost their BEST defensive player (Odell Thurman) prior to the season. Really? The BEST? Thurman hasn't played a down since 2005 b/c of run-ins with the law and was suspended before the season - again. Time to 'move forward' there Mikey.

85 really didn't go negative until this past year with all of his "Trade me, trade me" crap. Prior to that, his act (sending pepto to browns cornerbacks, his "can't cover me list", his "Future HOF coat", etc.) was tolerable to Bengals fans b/c they were having some good seasons (by our standards anyway Shocked ).

Then the wheels fell off the last part of last season and all of this year and suddenly he's a 'cancer' on the team. Chad is a great receiver IF he is only covered by one CB and IF he has a good QB (Fitzpatrick is NOT). If you put two CBs on him, he's good for one catch for 10 yards. That's one thing that at least impresses me with TO...he still finds a way to get open, whereas Chad doesn't.

The Giants can certainly do whatever is within their means, but the side no one seems to talk about, at least not until this piece, is how absurd New York's gun laws are. A mandatory 3 and a half year sentence? Are you kidding me? Think about it. Michael Vick gets a 23 month sentence for running a dog fighting operation and then lying to police about it. Burress gets at least 3 and a half years unless his lawyers somehow find an out. Tell me that's fair.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122835270947177981.html?mod=rss_opinion_main

New York Giants star receiver Plaxico Burress is facing a mandatory 3 years in prison and the end of his football career. His crime? Not having a license, which New York City never would have issued him, for the exercise of his constitutional right to bear arms.

To be sure, Mr. Burress got caught because of what appears to have been stupid and irresponsible behavior connected with the handgun. But he does not face prison for shooting himself. His impending mandatory sentence highlights the unfairness and unconstitutionality of New York City's draconian gun laws.

I just heard something the other day that confirmed what I said above - that Burress is getting more jail time than Michael Vick. Now, I'm not condoning what he did, but something just isn't right IMO.
