OSSIAN, Ind. (WANE) - It's the play that ended a remarkable career, but it's not the way Haley Chaney had envisioned it.

"Basketball I love it, it's what I've done my whole life, said Norwell Senior Haley Chaney.

A year ago Haley was seriously injured in a car accident. She made her comeback this season, but last month during a game, she took a hit. That's when she decided to call it quits.

"It was a really tough decision it was probably one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make. But when I made it I had that sense of relief," said Chaney.

Wednesday night, on Norwell's Senior Night, Haley made her final basket. Both teams agreed to allow Haley to make an uncontested layup, and then she was taken out of the game.

"Haley deserves that senior moment that these other girls are going to get to," said Norwell Head Coach Eric Thornton.

The Norwell star is no stranger to honors and awards.

"The season she had last year was the best season I've probably ever had a player have in my entire coaching career," said Thornton.

Cheers all around to both sides for making this happen. Heck of a lot better than that game a couple of weeks ago where the coach ran up the score and won 100-0.
