Indeed, Happy Opening Day to you too! This will be the year RedsNation unites in one voice and cries out "In Dusty We Trusty!"

Of course, I'm also predicting the Reds ballpark will be renamed "Skyline Chili Field at Great American Ball Park." So we'll see...

Sorry, but I can't get into baseball while I'm still wearing a coat and gloves. Yes I know it's in the low 50's this week, but it'll probably snow next week. Smile

I am going to bring up something that has been often discussed but never acted on, and is irking me more every year - the Designated Hitter rule. In this day and age, how can we have a major pro sport that has different rules among leagues that play against each other? I would rather see both leagues go back to every position has to hit, including the pitcher, but really I would rather see both the NL and AL use the DH if they are going to continue having 2 sets of rules. I realize there would be a bit of a disadvantage for the league that had to convert, but at least have some kind of plan, even if it's a few years.

I'm personally not a fan of the DH. I like watching the pitcher at the plate. Though I really don't see anything wrong with the way it is, I wouldn't complain if the AL decided to drop the DH.

On the flip side...I'd be pretty pissed if the NL adopted the DH. There aren't too many things in baseball that are as exciting as watching a pitcher knock one out of the park.

As Joe Nuxhall would say, "If you swing the bat you're dangerous." He probably would've revised that statement if he ever saw me swing a bat. Laughing
