(CNN) -- Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte Stallworth was charged on Wednesday with killing a pedestrian while driving under the influence, a spokesman for the Miami-Dade County state attorney's office said.

NFL player is expected to surrender in court Thursday; bail expected to be $200,000.
Donte Stallworth's blood-alcohol level was 0.126 percent; state's legal limit is 0.08
If convicted, Stallworth could face up to 15 years in prison.

Indeed a sad story. I kind of wondered if it was going to be something like this when I first heard about it a couple of weeks ago...

ouch... that sucks... mostly because someone died, but that Stallworth is a good receiver also... Bummer that this will likely end his career. Same as mike vick, I guess...

I'm not condoning what he did, but under the assumption that this wasn't a pedestrian crossing, it's interesting that there is no mention of any fault of the pedestrian. If Stallworth had been completely sober, would it have made any difference? Of course we will never know, but I'm guessing there would not have even been any charges against him. He should certainly be prosecuted, but I don't see a purpose to locking the guy up for 15 years.
