Yeah, I figured there was no way the Astros would finish behind the Reds this season..... wrong again. The hub says that we've been pitching guys from the minors training for next year; not a bad idea when your season's sunk. Still, another lopsided win -- sigh. I'm beginning to hate the Reds. Still have a soft spot for the Bengals, though. (parents and relatives all from Cincy.)

I knew it was lame, but I didn't care -- it still felt good.

Hardy har har.
Bummer -- they have now restricted access to the Board at work. Guess I was spending too much time there. (not.)
Meta's sure to pass me up now.

Everyone ought to be shown the nitty gritty details of combing through proxy server access logs. (That's usually the way companies filter the internet on their corporate networks.) I'll do my best to give a stereotype: It's a nerd's job. Poindexter. Nitpicker. The kind of guy who has tape on his glasses, a bad psoriasis problem, wears a wig, and is armed with a red Swingline stapler. He's 48 years old and drinks 3 Dr. Peppers before noon. Wait... That sounds sexist, but I haven't met a woman yet who's done that job.
Lemme send a shout out to that person
Most companies have realized that filtering internet access is expensive and is difficult to prove effective. Most realize that releases like The Real Board are more productive in terms of employee "break time" than they are at deterring a nose from the grindstone.
Yes, I'm sure to pass you... eventually.

What's odd is that my company has generally been loosening its vise-like grip on the 'net, and this is counter to that trend. They opened up hotmail, etc. a few months back, so it was a shock for me to come back from a week's absence to find my beloved Board access restricted. It means exactly what you've described, that someone was combing through my history, found this and decided to restrict access. I am at work for enough hours that it does not limit my productivity to the company. Most of my co-workers go for coffee or cigarette breaks; I take a quick look at the Board. I am never at work for only eight hours, even before I looked at the Board.
Doesn't make sense, but I can't whine anywhere but here......
And before someone says I shouldn't do anything at work but work, that is actually true most days. But we all need mental breaks, and a lot of my browsing I do at lunch.
Hasta. Meta -- you're catching up.....
