John Gruden
I'm not a Bucs fan and I don't think anyone here is either, but I had to comment how shocked I was to hear that they fired Gruden. IMO he is one of the best if not THE best coach in the league. Yeah, losing their last 4 games after being almost a lock for the playoffs is inexcusable, but he still went 9-7 with a no-name group of players. Jeff Garcia and Brian Griese aren't exactly names that strike fear in opposing defenses. As I recall, they got Gruden in a trade and gave up a number of 1st and 2nd round picks. Now they have to pay Gruden to leave the team since he's still under contract.

Re: John Gruden
I don't see him sitting out of football long. No a smart move by the Bucs when they got him and now when they let him go.

I agree Markwes, when tOSU hired Jim Tressel the name of Jon Gruden was floated around since he was an Ohio boy. I think Gruden is a great coach and I bet some of these teams who have already hired their new coach wish they would have waited.

I too was shocked.... I thought it would be awesome to have Gruden follow Dungy again and come to Indy... He's a class act and a great coach.

There is a rumor going around that if Herm Edwards gets axed in Kansis City, he will come to the Colts as part of the Defensive coaching staff.

Gruden joins 'Monday Night Football'

I for one will welcome Gruden, commentary from former players or coaches is my preferred choice of play by play.

Gruden will join play-by-play man Mike Tirico and analyst Ron Jaworski in September, replacing Tony Kornheiser.
Kornheiser decided to step down after three years of MNF, citing his fear of flying.
