Wimbledon!
Wow, wow, wow. I felt so bad for Roddick yesterday -- what a match! I was really pulling for him to beat Federer, and he almost did. But, it was "almost".
I think the shadows on his side of the court really threw him off, but I'm sure exhaustion didn't help.
Roddick -- will he emerge a better man for this, or broken? I would love to see him win the US Open in September.

Re: Wimbledon!
Sad to say I didn't watch any of it this year. I usually try to catch some of it, but just didn't have the time/desire to this year. I am happy for Federer though.
Re: Wimbledon!
Maybe I would feel differently had I gotten to watch it, but the fact that it went to a tiebreaker in the 5th set didn't really make it interesting. Federer won. Serena beat Venus. Ho hum.

Well, actually, yes it did. I'm not sure how tennis could get more interesting than that. The most games ever played in a Grand Slam Final - how much more interesting can you get? Andy Roddick playing the game of his life, Federer battling to beat Sampras's record of 14 Grand Slam titles - -what more do you want? Anna Kournikova (sp?) playing Jessica Alba naked?

I have it on the DVR as I was up at the lake without TV... I had several friends that were sending me texts of the score... looking forward to watching the 5th set after the kids get to bed this evening.
Roddick stood toe to toe with the Best tennis player ever and nearly got him... if roddick doesnt feel positive about that it's and Andy problem... I'm looking for him to come up with astring showing at the US.
I'm shifting gears (get it?) to the Tour de France...

Really though, it's the same as the Yankees winning the World Series or Duke winning the NCAA championship. Nothing against Federer, I just like parity in my sports.

I'm in 100% agreement with you on the parity. I was rooting for Roddick because I generally always root for the American in any international tournament. But, after that, I cheer for the underdog, and Federer didn't need another trophy.

We're very similar in that view... although I didn't mind that Roger won (want to see him hold all four titles), I like the underdog because it makes for a great match. If roddick had beaten federer in straights I would have been disappointed. In my mind, you cant appreciate the fact that Roger is the best player ever and then complain if he wins matches.
That said, it gets boring seeing the Williams sisters play each other in finals, it seems odd that they are on opposite sides of the draw so frequently. It used to be that they were always #1 and #2, so it made sense. I thought the S. Williams vs Dimentieva match was riveting... Dimentieva finally fixed her serve to compliment her punishing ground game, I look for her to be tough in the years to come.

Re: Wimbledon!
Venus looked listless in the finals. She was much better last year. (obviously, since she won.)
