Last night I made meatloaf and cooked it on the grill over charcoal with a little bit of hickory and cherry wood. It was awesome. Definitely doing that again.

My sister in law made a huge mistake of looking up the nutrition facts for a bluffton street fair funnel cake. 156 (one hundred and fifty-six) grams of fat. That's more than 5 big macs.

Elaborate pls... I made meatloaf burgers frequently...

I used...

Meatloaf
1 lb. ground pork
1 lb. ground turkey
1 lb. ground beef
2/3 cup bread crumbs
2 eggs lightly beaten
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup milk
~1/2 cup diced onion
~1/2 cup diced green pepper
onion powder
garlic powder
black pepper

Sauce
1/2 cup ketchup
6 Tbs. dark brown sugar
2 tsp. dry mustard
1/8 tsp. nutmeg

Mix all meatloaf ingredients in a bowl. Take a piece of foil and spary with nonstick cooking spray. Place meat loaf mix on foil and form into a "loaf". Fire the charcoal and place on one side of the grill with one chunk of hickory and one chunk of cherry wood on top of coals. Place the meatloaf, on the foil, on the other side of the grill and cook with indirect heat until middle of meatloaf reaches 160 degrees. (poke holes in foil so the grease drains) I cooked at roughly 350-400 degrees for 90 minutes. Baste approx. 2/3 of the sauce on the meatloaf and cook an additional 5-10 minutes. Use remaining sauce for dipping.

Yea, but they're good! And besides I can't eat 5 big macs in one sitting. Smile pig

Last night we had chicken and asparagus on the grill and Italian garlic rice. I wasn't so sure how good the asparagus would be, thinking it may be a bit out of season. I bought it at Kroger yesterday. I have to say it was the best tasting asparagus we have had all year. I think I'm gonna stop back by there and pick up some more today.

Biaggi's for dinner last night. Girl's day out with my daughter. Farfalle Alfredo and the chicken Florentine soup. Ice cream sundae for dessert. Was a bit disappointed in dessert (wayyyyyy to heavy on the sauces, I think they made it in a mad dash since we'd been waiting for it so long) but the Alfredo and soup were both delish!

I really like biaggi's, despite the fact that I get an "upscale italian food chain" vibe from the place, their food has most always been excellent whenever I've eaten there.

My wife and I would go to Eddie Merlots for french onion soup, a salad and maybe an appetizer... Last time we went they had changed their french onion so it tastes like oily barbecue sauce. I was really disappointed. The beauty of FOS is in it's sometimes surprising simplicity... why anyone would want to mess around with that (especially taking it to the new heights of "barbecue" is beyond me.

Last night for the game we had some wings from BW3 and sushi from Fresh Market, along with big piles of other junk food... awesome.

My dad smoked a duck for thanksgiving. He had never done a duck, and the greasy-ness of it made it perfect for smoking. I would be content never eating a dry slice of turkey breast ever again.

I have smoked a lot of things in my life. Never thought about duck. Seriously though, I might have to try that sometime, if I can get over the "incident" the last time I used the smoker. Enclosed area + flames + hand = ouch.

What kind of smoker do you have? Is it Charcoal, electric or propane?

It's charcoal. I've got your standard propane grill for most of the stuff I grill.

Just fired up the grill for some butterfly chops, think I'll steam some veggies on the side burner. Smile

I'm cooking a turkey breast covered in mayonnaise. Absolutely everything is better if there is mayonnaise involved.

Cooking on the grill can be very friendly to us counting calories if you do it right.

What are you using to count calories? I use a free program called myfitnesspal.com. It has a great database of foods and excersizes that you can input on your daily log. There is also a mobile app for your smartphone to keep track.

I agree with the grilling comments. Can't wait to get back to it.

I have been using an app from caloriecount.com. I might give the one you mentioned a try though. Not real thrilled with this one.
