Where were the school teachers?

So the kids get charged. What about the teachers and administrators that allowed it to happen on school grounds? The school district should be just as guilty as the students they allowed to do this.

wow... this was on the radio a few mins ago... I'm sure that a civil suit and out of court settlement is imminent.

I didn't have time to read the entire article, but I'm not sure school officials were at fault. It's kind of hard to say. That said, the whole thing is confusing to me. 2 kids were charged with statutory rape? That goes just a bit beyond bullying. And if she was getting "vicious cell phone text messages", she had all the evidence she needed. If the teachers don't want to do anything, the parents should have gone to the police.

Just makes me sad when I hear of cases like this, and the hope that none of my kids are ever subjected to bullying (or are themselves the ones bullying). Just very sad.

Here is why the school officials need to be charged:

"School officials won't be charged, even though authorities say they knew about the bullying and that Phoebe's mother brought her concerns to at least two of them."

I am taking the authorities they went to were the police. So it looks like they knew about it.

The original story on yahoo stated the harassment occurred on school grounds. It no longer states that in so many words. The globe story does go into it a little:

"On that day, she said, Prince was harassed while she was studying in the school library around lunch period, as she walked in the hallways near the end of the school day, and as she walked on Newton Street toward her home.

The harassment reported to have occurred that day in the school library, appears to have been conducted in the presence of a faculty member and several students, but went unreported to school administrators until after Phoebe's death,'' Scheibel said."

JMO... Bullying fault starts with the parent/s, then the kids doing it, then the school staff, etc...
My kids are very aware of how wrong and hurtful bullying is and have been taught that I have a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY on it, not allowed ever, for any reason, PERIOD. The schools already have ZTP on things WHY??????? not on bullying... they see it, they hear it daily and excuse it, pass it off, ignore it... etc... until some kid ends up in ICU with a brain bleed then they start the "fault process"....

From the time that my kids cold talk there were words that were taught were 'no different from curse words' like: fat, stupid, retard/ed, shut up, dumb... I am sure there are more, just not coming to mind... I treat these words coming from their mouths and their friends mouths no differently than if they were saying f*ck, etc... Not allowed, ever.

Very good post iberlingirl. As a parent, you have to know that your kid is a bully. Put a stop to it as soon as there is a problem, then it stops being a problem.

Thanks... I can only save the world through my 2 kids... sometimes I'd like to "school" some of todays kids, but I would end up in jail b/c I am "old school" if ya know what I mean..
