So, who's the mentor next week? I hear Neil Diamond is coming up before the end of the year. Ugh.

I believe it's Andrew Lloyd Webber. Snooze...

The mentors have been weak this year ... Dolly, Mariah, Neil, Andrew .. what, is Tiffany (see other thread) going to be next?

I thought Mariah was a decent choice -- certainly more current than past seasons with the Bee Gees, Queen, Rod Stewart, etc. (not that I didn't enjoy watching those shows.)

I like Andrew Lloyd Webber, but he does seem an odd mentor for Idol.

Def Leppard would be cool to get. Maybe Brooke could play the piano one-handed...

Do they still do a bottom three when there's only six left, or do they only have two since there's fewer people? Anyway, my bottom three in order from worst to best:

Jason Castro
Brooke White
David Archuleta

I did find it odd that Webber commented he'd never heard a boy sing Memory. (A horrible song choice for Jason, BTW.) Doesn't anyone else remember the version sung by Barry Manilow that the top 40 radio stations were playing back in the 80s? Streisand had one also, and hers was infinitely better.

I missed the show last night ... I heard Castro is probably going home though, msnbc was saying that I guess.

So anybody surprised Carly went home? I think at this point it's stictly a popularity contest and the singing part doesn't even matter...well except for the Jason the Dreadlock Dude. Everyone left is better than him.

Castro is by far ... by far the weakest of the remaining candidate.

5) Castro
4) Syesha
3) Brooke
2) David
1) David

hehe 2) Archuleta 1) Cook

Yes, it is a popularity contest at this point, but I am still shocked Carly went home this week when Brook and Jason were so much worse. And when it came down to Syesha and Carly, I figured Syesha was a goner.

Okay, Neil Diamond week. I have to admit I actually like his music, probably b/c it brings back memories of listening to "Dad's Music" on family vacations...

Anyway, the weakest one for me was Jason Castro. Not a big fan of what Syesha did last night (I've already forgotten) either, so if one of those 2 go, I won't be disappointed.

Who did "Sweet Caroline" last night? That was horrible.

I flipped over to watch Hell's Kitchen and they were showing "highlights" of the night's performances, so I obviously don't know if that was the worst performance of the night or not.

David Archuleta did Sweet Caroline, and yes, it was awful. Then again, so was Brooke's rendition of I'm a Believer. It sounded like she was singing in a range too low for her on the verse.

My bottom two:

1. Brooke White -- think she's going home
2. Jason Castro, although I really liked his rendition of Forever in Blue Jeans. We figured he'd be singing Red, Red Wine; was surprised he didn't. I hated September Morn, though.

Also, what the heck was up with Paula thinking Jason had already sung two songs after the first round? It was sad watching Randy trying to cover for her.

I've always thought she was loopy, but didn't think it was chemically inspired. Guess I was wrong........

Ding, ding, ding! My husband thought it was Syesha's turn to leave, so we were taunting each other when it was down to the two of them.

I felt bad for Brooke, as she was so sad. Surely, though, she didn't think she was going to win?

First, I'm shocked dreadlock boy is still in it. I'm shocked he was even safe last night. Second, I think with Brooke it was just a culmination of things. I think she knew she probably wasn't going to win, but still when she got the word from Ryan, the crocodile tears started...

Really? You thought Brooke was shedding crocodile tears? They seemed genuine, but I guess someone making the top five has learned to show only "genuine" emotion.

I can't argue with your statement about Jason Castro -- I figured he'd be gone during the Andrew Lloyd Weber week. He must have a pretty strong teeny-bopper fan base out there. Also, he is an Aggie -- my hub thinks that he gets extra support from fellow Ags.

OK, probably NOT 'crocodile' tears...poor choice of words (I typed it early in the morning). I think Brooke is as genuine as they come, a Miss (or Mrs. in her case) Prim & Proper, and that's fine with me. Unfortunately she couldn't win over enough people to outlast the others, especially Dreadlock Boy. I thought when the Top 24 started, that it would come down to her and David Cook. But Archeletta has a strong following right now, and it seems the judges are "pulling for him." (Paula's words if I'm not mistaken from last night, but she also said to David Cook that she thought she was looking at the American Idol, so who knows???)
