HUGE Series in Chi-Town...
Talk about a HUGE series in Chicago these next 4 days...Brew Crew vs. the cubbies. Will the cubs be up to the challenge? Is this the beginning of the end of their season? I just wish I knew what it was like to root for a baseball team that plays meaningful games this late in the year... Haven't experienced that since 1999.
Re: HUGE Series in Chi-Town...
Yep, its a big series alright. The Brewers have Sabathia and Sheets hurling (and possibly pitching too) in the first 2 games. I'll be happy if the Cubs can take one of them and then take our chances with the other 2 games.

Oops. Looks like the series is in Milwaukee, not Chicago. Oh well. Brewers lead the north-siders 3-2 in the 6th...

Beating Sabathia while using our #4 pitcher was huge for the Cubs, all this while playing in "Wrigley North".pez wrote:I read the Cubs pulled it out with two in the 9th... woot!

Gotta love those names from the article...Markwes wrote:Those radical Cub fans give us normal ones a bad name.

Boguslaw "Bob" Czapla, 37, of Elmwood Park was charged with mob action and aggravated battery. His brother, Jaroslaw "Jerry" Czapla, 31, of Huntley and Maciej "Mike" Trojnar, 33, of Elmwood Park were charged with mob action and battery, Fulton said
Heh, and you guys just laughed when Marty Brennaman said cubs fans are the most obnoxious fans in baseball, with all due respect to Yankees and Red Sox fans. Way to prove Marty B's point Mark!
Now, if it were a Braves fan they beat up, I'd probably buy them a beer.

I think Marty meant foreign Cub fans.Cincy Fan 44 wrote:Gotta love those names from the article...Markwes wrote:Those radical Cub fans give us normal ones a bad name.

I forgot to make a reference to the best part of this story:
"Robert Steele, 32, of Gurnee said that he went to the Sesame Street-themed party for his fiancee's 2-year-old niece on July 19, where the three men allegedly started teasing Steele that White Sox fans had missing teeth."
What better way to liven up a 2 year-old's Sesame Street party than to get drunk and kick somebody's eye out!

So the cubbies just might be for real???? 3 in a row from the Brewers?!?!? Possible 4 game sweep today. Sweet Lou has 'em going!
Re: HUGE Series in Chi-Town...
I never imagined they would have taken the first 3. If the Cubs do end up with the division crown, the Brewers will definitely look back on this series. Now if they can just get some runs for Rich Harden today!

Re: HUGE Series in Chi-Town...
Thanks. Really makes you wonder what his parents were thinking?!?! Don't get me wrong, I appreciate a good sense of humor, but I wouldn't do that to my kids. (Of course, this coming from the guy who wants his kids first initials to spell out R-E-D-S. Only a "D" away, if you count the dog!)IrishGuy wrote:Cincy Fan 44 wrote:Glad to see he goes by "Rich"...Markwes wrote:Rich Harden

Although not as 'perverted' as the aformentioned names, my favorite baseball names are Coco Crisp and Milton Bradley.

I always chuckle at Randy Johnson being referred to as the "Big Unit". Hmmm, wonder how he got that nickname?Cincy Fan 44 wrote:Touche!!! Dang...I just saw the cubbies completed a four game sweep of the Brewers to open up a 5 game lead. Must be their year, huh?
