Okay, if you're going to cheat, can you put a little more thought in it than picking January 1?...but China said her passport, issued in February, gives her birthday as Jan. 1, 1992...

Re: The Olympics
Did I see that either dirtbike racing is a sport last night? I saw dirt hills with tarps over them, so I can only assume this is either BMX or Motocross.

Yep, it was BMX which I didn't watch. I see enough of that on the Extreme games.

Here's why I hate the Olypmics at times.. Softball is being taken away because America dominates. Ok.. why is Table Tennis a sport? And Badminton? Not to mention NO ONE watches these games (even the chinese aren't paying attention according to reports).
Then they take a medal away from a guy who throws a tantrum, but they won't investigate the Chinese who are putting up 12 yr olds in Gymnastics? Come on.

Re: The Olympics
Okay, I guess I shouldn't have questioned the Jan. 1st argument, just the year. The documents, he said, stated that He’s birth date was January 1 1994 - making her 14 - and not January 1 1992, which is printed in her passport.

That was prolly from the last time they had to lie for her in order to explain away her love child... it's China, if they uncover that she's really 12, she'll be in a death camp before dark.

Plus, the Chinese don't recognize Jan 1 as the new year. Its just another day.

Re: The Olympics
I'm wondering if these age allegations turn out to be true and the gymnast is stripped of her medals, which would be worse in the Chinese culture...being stripped of a medal for cheating, or not winning an expected medal?
Anybody 'up' on the Chinese culture?
Anybody 'up' on the Chinese culture?
Re: The Olympics
Just my opinion BUT, China put them up to cheat, I cannot see them then shunning the "athlete" for getting caught, but then again, we are talking about China and they have some very different customes than the US.Cincy Fan 44 wrote:I'm wondering if these age allegations turn out to be true and the gymnast is stripped of her medals, which would be worse in the Chinese culture...being stripped of a medal for cheating, or not winning an expected medal?

Unless it can be absolutely proven, I cannot ever see them "admitting" it.

Dude, one of our guys should grab her and "liberate" her to the US... cause we know she want's to live free...

Congrats to the men's beach volleyball team for beating a team with "BRA" on their chests. You would think Brazil would choose a different combination of letters, or maybe spell their name out.

Re: The Olympics
Well, I don't know if anyone caught the US relay teams last night, but it was ridiculous. Both the men and women's 4x100m relay teams dropped the baton and were disqualified. Apparently, the women's team even did it the last olympics, too.
So is there a gold medal for choking under pressure?

How bad can those runners suck to drop the baton and not even make it to the finals? Good joerb. I think some egos got in the way.

Congrats to the US Men's Volleyball team and FW's Lloy Ball for winning the Gold Medal!!! What an emotional scene, especially with the personal situation their coach had to deal with at the start of the Olympics. Way to go!!!
