Can the colts beat Minnesota?
ok... everyone on another board seems to think the sky is falling, Marvin should retire, we were foold to ever take manning in the draft and running the ball just doesnt seem to be Joe Addai's forte (get it?)...
Seriously, are the colts in trouble, or are they going to win their next 12?

For my Fantasy Team's sake in another league, I hope Addai can still run the ball! He was my first pick at the #4 position.

Re: Can the colts beat Minnesota?
Kind of ironic...for us Bengals fans, one loss to open a season is a way of life. To Colts fans, the sky is falling.

Schweet. I hope Rick Steves was in the car with him...
One of the first and most intelligent (yeah, you know me) comments on the Indystar.com article.
"I would rather have the cops chasing potheads around instead of dangerous murderers. The cops might get hurt, and I hate bagpipe music."

I think the Colts will be less than stellar in comparison to the past.. but that still means they'll be better than 23-25 other teams in the NFL.. as opposed to 30-31 as in years past.
Saturday going down is huge. Manning just needs to get back into the groove, which will happen against Minnesota's crappy secondary, assuming the O Line can hold off their D Line long enough.
The biggest question to me is whether the Colts run D can contain All Day and can the Vike's secondary respond to an offense hell bent on proving they are still potent.
The naysayers will have a field down though because Indy will start off against what may be two of the top 5 Defenses in the league.

Minnesota's "top 5" defense didn't impress me AT ALL this past week against Green Bay. And you can't tell me that Green Bay's offense is more lethal than Indy's.

I think Indy will be able to throw the ball agianst the Vikes. That is, of course, if Peyton's joints don't dry up like the Tin Man. In a weird way, it almost would have bothered me more if the Colts came out with either really poor offense, or really poor defense. But they came out with kind of poor everything. I don't know, new stadium, Peyton out all preseason, maybe Bartman was in the crowd somewhere. I know they can play better than they did on Sunday, and I think we'll see it soon enough.

The Colts just cut Johnson. The reason he came to the Colts as an undrafted free agent was because of off feild issues while at Penn State. I'm guessing Dungy and Polian gave him a one strike and your out deal since every other team passed on him. Well, he's outta here. Card, can you play DT? Fleek?

The Bengals will take him. Heck, he'd have at least 5 more strikes!IrishGuy wrote:pez wrote:Nice... Ed Johnson was arrested this morning... woot!

I'm sure Ed is saying this morning, "Oh, you meant that?" $10 says someone picks him up before the trade deadline.

Here's what I want to know... if the Pat's still make the playoffs, will the media (and Pat's fans) be able to admit that while Brady is a great QB, he's not as great as one may have thought because if Cassel leads them to the playoffs.. well.. let's be fair.
The colts will be fine, I just think Chicago came out to prove something, they had more to lose than the Colts because the Bears NEED that confidence. The Vikes have a good run D, but the problem has been their pass D, which will get tested early and often this week.

It will mean that Brady is a system QB and isnt as good as the system makes him look. Or it will mean that Cassel steps up to the task and takes the helm (great receiver corps, Great O-Line) with aplomb and succeeds, probabaly winning him a starting job somewhere else.
I think the Colts will be fine also... they drop 3-4 games a year in the last few years anyway. Would rather lose in September than December.

Possibly picked up, but I bet if he fails a drug test he's facing a suspension, most likely 4 games. The NFL's drug abuse policy is one faild test, shame on you. Two failed tests, 4 game suspensions. That means last year Shawn Merriman failed two drug tests for roiding. Ed Johnson may have been put on double secret probation by the NFL noting his college troubles, meaning one failed test and its your ass. Either that or he failed a drug test either last year, over the offseason, or earlier this season without anyone knowing.

I don't think he's a "system QB". He's got a GREAT arm. He's accurate as hell. And he's smart. He's just a damn good QB that was damn good even before Randy Moss and Wes Welker arrived.

I agree.. I just think this will be an interesting way to see how much of last year was him and how much was simply because he had the best protection and best WR's in the league. Plus I just hate Bill Bellichek and anything to make someone on his team look less than the G.O.A.T., even if it is a Michigan man, makes me happy.

Good discussion about Tom Brady. Just wondering, along the same lines, with the big game Aaron Rodgers had for the Packers, can we say Brett Favre wasn't all that great, but rather they just have a good offense?

I think it'll take a whole season to answer that... same as Cassel/Brady.
The interesting part to that though is we now have Brett playing for a team that really sucked last year. I think GB has a solid line which helps Rodgers, but Rodgers is pretty good in his own rite from what I've heard about him prior to this year.

Re: Can the colts beat Minnesota?
Love it, will take the ugly win. The First half was horrific... I cant believe how badly our oline played, and how poor our running game was. We cant win down the stretch without running the ball.
The defense held them to five field goals, which I consider an astounding success, given how much time they had to spend on the field while our offense was standing on the sidelines looking like teenagers that are grounded for prom.
Special teams played spectacularly, especially given the fact that they usually stink up the place.
If Marvin keeps playing like this, there is no way he will enter next year under the same contract.
