Re: Who's the elitist?
I think you're all a bunch of douchebags that can lick my taint.
Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Thank you!
I'm personally fascinated at the "telephone" game. One statement is made, in the clear, by someone and weeks later it's reintroduced as a completely different sounding animal.
The dead horse is real. Some people will believe what they want to believe regardless of what is said. If there's a fear that the candidate might be saying something other than what the listener wants to hear, the blinders and earmuffs go on.

Six of one...meta4 wrote:Well, for starters, you're making a general observation about my generalized comments. I'm not concerned with whether or not you like the quality of my answers. You rarely ask for clarification on things you do not understand, and you know what they say about "assumptions". I'm focusing my comments on the current topic, and applying the candidates answers to meet the requirements of SAID topic.
"how someone can view his answer as being serious" I don't know what to say about that you cannot read, and you cannot comprehend plain English, or else you think people like your bullshit.
When I brought up your debating style, I guess I forgot the step where you question our ability to comprehend English. That must be it. I can't comprehend plain English. Card and LTRT can't comprehend plain English. It should all be so clear for us to see things like Meta4 does.
Apparently you cannot. I only inferred that YOU cannot comprehend English. You go on to then transpose that to Card and LTRT? Friggin' brilliant.
I guess I did some INFERRING too. You're getting that angry liberal role down pat. When you can't come up with anything, just throw an insult out there.meta4 wrote:You're a complete moron.

The "rich" question was straightforward.
So what do you feel is an accurate #?
It's a really stupid question and McCain was extra-ordinarily dumb to even answer it. A person with a $100,000 a year salary is poor if they have a $200,000 mortgage and $25,000 in credit card debt.
A person that makes $100,000 a year is middle to lower class if they live in Manhattan where a studio apartment is $3500 a month.
Rich is a combination of many factors... how much savings, how much debt, how much income, how much is the cost of living, how much are your expenses....
McCains response should have been along the lines of mentioning all or more of the factors above, and suggesting that the role of government is to spend prudently and wisely, such that the tax burden on all Americans of all incomes can be smaller, and that the government can use those funds more effectively.

I thought that was how he answered, in terms of rich being subjective anyway. I thought it was pretty cheesy myself, but I agree with you that it's not really a question you can realistically answer unless you through out a ridiculous number like $5M where there's no question that you're rich.
And that was my point about $100K here versus NYC... I'm going to take a wild guess though and say that Meta won't be calling you a moron for basically making the same point I did.

Re: Who's the elitist?
i actually thought at the time that mccains poverty answer was a feeble attempt at humor. i also liked his answer that some of the wealthiest people he knows arent "rich" in alot of ways. what he did was try not to answer
...which obama was blasted for because he declined to answer about when life begins. honesty doesnt always win the day when your audience is the religious rite but at least he didnt flip just to gratify them. he is consistent on most things even if he knows it isnt what his audience doesnt want to hear.
mccain on too many questions eagerly jumped in with yes or no case closed lets move on to a discussion of justice apointees. that was rather telling in itself. he was obviously saying what they wanted to hear and move on to the one topic he felt he could really discuss in a way they would eat up.

Pez, I'm surprised you don't think that is a good question. I guess you're a complete moron as well.
If McCain would have said what Pez said, we'd be having a different discussion. "Rick, I don't think I can answer that question for everyone"
Card, if it's still bleeding, change your munt pad.

I think Obama answered the question SPOT ON ... a typical American is middle class earning up to $250K a year above that ... you are rich by American Standards. Seem pretty clear to me, I guess McCain did not want to single out his wife's friends.

Me, Card & McCain... carrying members of the C.M.A.A..... ROFL about the munt pad.
What I gathered from his answer is that he is out of touch with every day americans (can you really blame the guy?). I'm pretty sure the last time he hung around with Joe Average making 35,000 a year was quite a long time ago. 5 million a year is probabaly rich in the crowd he runs with... less than that you prolly dont get invites to the Bean Dinner.
And my God, when they finally show his face and he starts 5 different half sentences with the word "seriously" (when everyone knows he wasnt joiking about $5 million) it's painful... Finally he says, "I'm sure my comments will be distorted..."
Seriously, his handlers must have put their head in their hands when he said five million...

I can't really say I'm all that surprised you'd confuse debating topics for talking trash about who will win

He did answer that question that way.. you just apparently don't like how he answered it so you're like a dog with a bone and won't let it go because you think you've got some sort of victory off it, meanwhile you're only making yourself look like a retard in the process... but at least you're doing something good..

Are you really suggesting he wasn't joking about implying if you make $4.9M you aren't rich?
