Fringe......
Did anyone else watch this? I guess I missed the inaugural episode, but I watched the second episode a few nights ago out of curiosity. Strange show, and not that bad, but not that great either. I wouldn't go out of my way to watch it again.
It bugged me for a while that I knew I recognized the older scientist on the show, but couldn't figure out from where. I finally looked it up, and he was the wacko king that favored the dead son and tried to kill his live son in a funeral pyre in Return of the King.
Anyway, back to the show. They seem to be trying too hard to invoke the mystique from Lost and the X-Files, and in my mind, failed.

I actually like the show. Caught the 2 hour premier. Definitely in the X files realm (which I loved). You might want to check out the network website to see if you can watch the premier off of the web. It will bring things into focus more.
me tooh
I watched the pilot and wasnt all that impressed. Its definatley not in the X-Files league.

...which isn't saying much, IMO. X-Files was very hit-and-miss for me.

Re: Fringe......
I'm still giving Fringe some time. It's not great, IMO, but it can be entertaining to watch - but I'm also not scheduling around its time slot (I watch it later on Hulu usually). Anyway, I agree it's definitely trying to be like the X-Files, but it's not at that level.
As for the X-Files, I loved its first four or so seasons. But after the movie, the main storyline became incredibly esoteric and I became lost. I stopped watching it a little after that. But I thought some of the stand-alone episodes were great. All in all, I liked it a lot.

When I watched it I felt like I was watching a show where Dawson's Creek had a lab explode and they are on the Fringe of Pacey's coat tails...
