My Favorite X-Files Episode
The "Fringe" thread and Savoy Truffle's post made me think of how much I used to enjoy the early seasons of the X-Files, and what my favorite episode was.
Hands down, it would have to be the episode with Peter Boyle as the psychic.

Re: My Favorite X-Files Episode
I can't pinpoint which episode is my favourite.
It would be easier to say which one I didn't like.
That would be the one with the roaches in everything.
I never watched that entire episode.

I'm kind of an X-Files geek.
Was that called "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose"?

I liked the episode called "Small Potato's" the best.

I like Small Potatoes, too. I'm ashamed to admit I don't actually remember the one with Peter Boyle as the psychic. In fact, I'm having trouble recalling which episodes I used to think were the best. *Sigh*, I think that settles it - I either need to purchase or rent the DVD's.

I am not that much of a tv geek like meta...LOL.
I don't know the episodes by name either.

Re: My Favorite X-Files Episode
So which did everyone like more - the stand-alone episodes or the ones relevant to the main plot? I liked both for different reasons. Before it got too confusing, I enjoyed trying to figure out the main plot. On the other hand, the stand-alone episodes usually gave the characters room to be a little less serious and sometimes show a different side to them. Though I really did enjoy the plot episodes, I think my favorite were the stand-alones.

I liked the shows when it was Mulder and Scully. I didn't care much for the ones with that new guy.
I enjoyed both of them.
Side note, did you know they filmed that show in Vancouver, BC?

That I did know. I think it's because everything is cheap in Canada.Canuck wrote:Side note, did you know they filmed that show in Vancouver, BC?

I couldn't agree more, but I liked the series so much (less so after Skinner left as Dept Head) that it's difficult to decide which one I liked least.
The black oil episode when krychek was in Siberia is probably my favorite 'main plot' episode. My favorite thing to do was watch for the new "phrases" that appeared the the end of the opening credits and contemplate how the phrase supported the underlying themes or sub plots.

The roach one was pretty lame; I was thinking when I started this topic that that particular episode was my least favorite.

Yes, it was Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose.
I don't remember Small Potatoes at all, although I almost certainly watched it when it was on. I watched X-Files every week, until Duchovny left, but very few episodes stand out for me in memory.
I saw the first movie when it came out, but didn't bother to see the most recent outing due to the wretched reviews it received. Did anyone actually go see it in the theater?

I couldn't watch it Aggie, so I have no idea what it was all about. I just remembered the first scene where I saw that and flipped channels.

No, I did not see the 2nd movie, I know for certain I did see the first.
Here's a few episode titles, see if any of them jog your memory.
War of the Coprophages "Cockroaches" (already mentioned previously)
Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man "I can kill you any day I choose, but not today..."
Post Modern Prometheus "Cher"
Pusher "Cerulean"
Die Hand Die Verletzt "School - Chalkboard - Witchraft - Snake"
The Rain King "stormy weather"
