For a meal that costs $35-45 (on average) per person, they better give a handjob while you cut into your steak.

The place won't last.

I never said they should or could be. The building and location is cursed.

Put it out on Dupont or out Southwest or @ Jefferson Pointe and maybe it would last. But I just don't see it lasting in a middle-income neighborhood like Northcrest.

Disagree. They will come.

If it has killer food with top-notch service it will do fine.

See: Hartley's. That neighborhood is no better than where Uno's is/was.

I think that location is cursed as well.. Damon's caught fire.. wasn't it hit by the tornado as well? Uno's, well... that place just sucked. But Outback left that area as well.. how Lonestar can survive and Outback can't is beyond me.

They better have some bomb ass food though or a great gimmick/catch. Club Soda is "hip". Joseph D's is just good (from what I've heard). Eddie's is fantastic and a bit ritzy for us commoners. Never been to Hartley's. Chappel's has great food. For $40 per entree it needs to be able to stand out, if they just have decent food it won't last.

I don't really buy into this superstition stuff. It's about as real to me as Doe's God.

Baker Street (old Uno's) Empty Not Hartleys

Post  whoosieme Thu Sep 25, 2008 5:59 pm

A friend in the foodie business went to the pre-opening and said the food is way over priced and so so. Chicken breast for $18???? Come on......
She said its like a Ruth Cris but with local people owning it. She said none of these people are experienced chefs so it good they stick with steaks and such. I give them a year..........
Hartleys on the other hand is worth every $$$$$. Pam is a great chef and is very innovative with her food. No comparison between the 2.

Thanks for the info. I told my wife we ought to check it out once, but maybe not, at least for the present.

The owner is a former waitress of the Cork so I would expect to see a lot of "familiar" recipes.

And Jimmy Johns owns.

Sounds like another Indiana place that thinks they can be big stuff, but really just suck in the end. Pretty common sight.

So NONE of us have ACTUALLY eaten a single bite in this place and yet...

It doomed to fail.
It sucks.
It's over priced.
The food is okay at best.
The staff is crappy.
the building itself will implode with bad karma.
Its not a sub shop.

And I wonder why the political threads are fucked up.
