Oh, I like Live a lot. I think their best song is "Beauty of Grey" from their early album.
Saw them down at Deer Creek few years back.
Me too... I mean I actually saw them at Verizon Wireless Music Centerbut you've got a few years on me!
It was just after the release of Secret Samadhi - and they sang Lakini's Juice AND Beauty of Grey. The show was awesome.
...ahhh chit. didn't I hear they're tearing down DC/VWMC?
Sounds like the same show...
The one we saw had the chick band Luscious Jackson as back-up, ring a bell?
Don't know about the tear down

Yep. Same show. Cool. I'm glad you remembered the name of that band. I haven't heard much about them lately, wonder what happened to them? We were on the lawn about 20 feet from the back row of the pavilion. The guys next to us were really toked, they must have passed around a dozen joints between about 6 guys. The aroma went well with a wonderful show!

thanks for reminding me that I'm getting older

That probably was us.

I think I saw something a while back about the girl band (made money, got married & had kids)
Noooo, I can't leave it like that...I was there with my 2 step-kids who were in hs at the time.

For some reason, I've been in the mood to listen to opera lately. It's not something I choose to listen to much, but just every now and then........ My favorite is Mia Bambino Caro

For the Benefit of Mr. Kite
I almost want to start a Beatles thread, but I don't know if there are that many fans here.

Re: What are you listening to?
I didn't listen to the Beatles much until the last 5 years. One of my favorite CDs is Abbey Road, although my favorite Beatles song of all time is Revolution. After that, would be Oh Darling, and then Here Comes the Sun.

Something about opera soothes a certain type of mood I get occasionally. My parents were big opera buffs, and I hated it as a child. Certain arias stayed with me, though, such as Nessun Dorma or O Mio Bambino Caro. I was a tad surprised to hear the latter song at the beginning of Blades of Glory. (fell asleep while watching, so have no idea how good the movie is.)

Re: What are you listening to?
Right now I'm listening to Led Zeppelin... I started with Going to California in honor of Mort... and just kept on cranking up the volume!
I hope some kind of magical tuneage surrounds the ears of each member at some point today.
Anyone else listening today?

Right now, I'm listening to absolutely nothing but the rain hitting the building and the ambient noises of the office. Kind of nice to get some peace and quiet in because I'm sure my little rugrats will be screaming their heads off when I get home (not that there's anything wrong with that!).meta4 wrote:Anyone else listening today?

Re: What are you listening to?
I was listening to Hayes Carll earlier today, but I wouldn't think anyone here would have heard of him -- Texas songwriter.

Re: What are you listening to?
Has anyone seen the Seinfeld episode where Elaine's boyfriend has to pull the car over every time "Desparado" by The Eagles comes on the radio? Well lately my Desparado song has been "Yellow Ledbetter" by Pearl Jam.
Anyone else have a "Desparado" song?

I remember that episode. Didn't the doctor let a patient die on the operating table because "Witchy Woman" was playing???IrishGuy wrote:Has anyone seen the Seinfeld episode where Elaine's boyfriend has to pull the car over every time "Desparado" by The Eagles comes on the radio? While I don't have it to that extreme, I've always been a little partial to "Young Love" by The Judds. My wife and I danced to that as our first song at our wedding.

Clockhammer - "Clockhammer" - a CD I've had since 1992... Seriously, every track is good... to think of how unique this style of music was then and you have no choice but to feel regret for this band dying at the hands of a yoko... track 8 (lost the Liner notes long ago) is has the kid of dynamic range that literally no one was doing back then.
