My Favorite Vacation was...

...in 2002, we went to the Smokies...before we had kids. Had a blast. Went White Water Rafting, which I had never done before. The rapids were what they considered a "Level 3." I think Level 5 is the roughest. We also had a black and white picture taken in a saloon setting where they dressed me up as a rifle-toting sheriff and Mrs. Cincy as a floozy.

Also went to "The Comedy Barn" in Pigeon Forge. The corny humor there was right up my alley...but seriously, if you're not a big fan of corny jokes, it's still a great place to go for fun.

We also obviously went up into the mountains, hiked some trails, walked in some streams, rode the Ober Gatlinburg cable car, and went to Cades Cove.

All in all, a great time, for not a lot of money...

Sounds awesome! My favorite vacations seem to involve camping and outdoor activities rather than hotels and nightlife. I've done both but I feel more energized after camping trips. I misread the post initially and thought you took the kids on a category 3 and thought you must have had balls of steel, but I see this was before the kids arrived.

LOL...well, to be honest, we did take our Yellow Lab with us, and just kept her in the motel room when we were on the rafting trip...otherwise, she went with us up into the mtns.

My favorite vacation was a week on an 85' houseboat in Dale Hollow. It was before I was married and went down with a bunch of guys. On the water all day, lots of beer, belly smacker contests from the top of the boat, nobody to biatch at you.

Coco Beach, 92'~ way b4 kids... sat on the beach with my feet in the water, one side of me was a bucket of beer, the other was a bucket of oysters on the 1/2 shell.. there were 3 of us... the trip ended in a Bar called the Brass Monkey and me breaking my tail bone, while dancing, drunker than a skunk... but no sunburn (considering I am a fair skined, redhead, that was a feat)
