Political Discussions - Let's Cut 'em Out
Hey, all, I gotta ask: what's the point of any political debate at this point? This Board seems to be very polarized, and I can't imagine any one of us making any salient points that would change anyone's mind. Instead, it seems to be the same old arguments over and over again.
I say let's boycott election discussions! And yes, I know the tired response that I don't have to look at them, and I won't. But do you all really enjoy hashing the same old points again and again?

I think at this point, for me personally it's just another topic, similar and perhaps joined to the economy that I enjoy making comments on or seeking peer clarification. No, we're not going to change anyone's mind.

I tend to agree, only for the reason that very few of the discussions here are actually "debate".Aggie Transplant wrote:Hey, all, I gotta ask: what's the point of any political debate at this point? Without the political discussions we would not have any topics ... no one is preventing people from starting other threads and topics. Frankly I am hungry right now, a good food thread sounds good.

We should make this thread sticky. I'm not picking on your Aggie, but using this thread as example.
This is not a radio station, there is no "call in request line", you have the power to start any thread on almost any topic. Quit complaining and just do it.
My [unpopular] topics of discussion can be found in the Sci/Tech area. A lot of interesting stuff can usually be found in the various topic areas if one digs around a bit.

What I get from your post is:meta4 wrote:This is not a radio station, there is no "call in request line", you have the power to start any thread on almost any topic. Quit complaining and just do it.
Aggie doesn't have the right to complain about anything posted by others, so I'm going to complain about your complaint because I have that right.

Why do I bother writing down what I want to say? A+ job man!
The only reason I used this thread is because it's fresh, and some say that some people don't always read a thread that doesn't interest them, so I said it here, again. I really am not trying to pick on Aggie, just restating the same basic board concept. It's not a buffet, it's a pot luck. Find a place to put your dish.

I just don't have time to participate as much as I'd like due to the new job. Of course, once I move to Indy and don't have to spend (2) hours of my day commuting, I'll have a bit more free time.

Why don't we boycott McCain's rhetoric entirely... I swear the every time I hear him say "fight" in a statement it's like fingernails on a chalkboard. This guy is so whacked, he thinks the best way to win an election is "fight".
I shake my head everytime I hear it and wonder if he thinks this is a war or a civilized society electing a government leader.
It's just...well... SAD.

ironic that this thread itself became a forum for political discussion. Now I can't read my own thread.........
