Halloween Office Potluck
Tomorrow our office is having a Halloween pot luck lunch.
There will be a little contest, I need to win. Here's what I'm planning to bring.
Hellfire Buffalo Chicken Dip
Hot Sauce (like Franks red hot)
Cream cheese
Canned chicken
Bleu cheese crumbles
Bleu cheese dressing
Shredded Cheddar cheese
All warm and melty in a crock pot.
Has anyone had this?

Re: Halloween Office Potluck
Dude, my wife makes something almost the exact same recipe. Serve it with tortilla chips and celery.
It's for a Halloween party, so you might want to do something along the lines of a garnish that may be Halloweenie.

I got a funny feeling I had you at "melty"

I've seen about 3 different variations, but here's the one I think I'll do.
1 lb. canned chicken (like 2x 10oz. cans of chunk chicken breast, drained)
2 8oz. bars of Cream Cheese
1 C Ranch or Blue Cheese salad dressing
1 12oz. bottle Hot Sauce
1 16oz. pkg Shredded Cheddar cheese
8 oz. Blue cheese crumbles

Never had it but it sounds pretty tasty. We have one Friday and I might have to give that one a whirl. Let us know how it goes over.

Celery, and a hollow weenie. Check.

I could get real fancy and do something with dry ice. It's pretty cheap and I think you can get it at Meijer.
... maybe put the celery in a bowl and put that bowl in the dry ice bowl

Mmmm, some friends of mine made this last New Year's Eve - very tasty stuff!
But now I'm hungry...

Canned chicken? Cook some food if you want to win.
With your culinary skills, I am betting you would, if you actually cooked stuff.
I do understand the requirement for quick food though.
Good luck...

Doing it all from scratch isn't gonna change the end result one bit.
I'm all about the canned chicken for this.

LOL, I was on the brink of disappointment when I saw "canned chicken."
Get off your butt and cook dammit, is that working for motivation?

Just don't look into his eyes, you will be safe.
If you get the chicken breast and marinate them tonight, they will be ready for the cooking tomorrow.
I must say, it does sound fantastic. Just the canned chicken bit stumped me. I can't say I've had chicken from a can, that's why.
If I am feeling cooky this weekend I might just have to make me some.

Leftover cold dip is awesome on toasted pita chips or a bagel

That also sounds like it would be an "awesome" sandwich spread.
Open a pita, put some of this on both sides, add sliced avocados, some sprouts, lettuce, tomato and probably some of roasted turkey breast cold cuts.

I don't think we need to vote on this... "Awesome" is the word to use here!

Re: Halloween Office Potluck
I've never understood why people use canned chicken for this. That stuff has such a weird taste. It doesn't even taste like chicken to me. The end result is a tunafied buffalo chicken tasting weirdness.
---------------------
Here's the BEST recipe.
3-boneless/skinless chicken breasts
1-bottle of Frank's Buffalo Wing Sauce
1 or 2 packages of cream cheese (depending on how much you like it)
1 bag of shredded cheddar cheese
Ranch Dressing(or Bleu Cheese)
Boil (or bake) the chicken breasts until done. Shred chicken.
Combine shredded chicken, entire bottle of buffalo wing sauce, cream cheese and HALF (1/2) the bag of shredded cheese. Mix thoroughly. Spread mixture evenly into cake pan (or casserole dish). Cover the mixture with ranch dressing (or bleu cheese). Spread dressing evenly over the mixture. Use the remaining half (1/2) bag of shredded cheese and sprinkle it evenly over the top of the dressing. Bake @ 350/400 degrees for 15 or 20 minutes.
Use tortilla chips or Ritz crackers. Both will work. I prefer tortilla chips, though.
EDIT: I suppose you could top it all off with chopped up celery, too, if you wanted. I don't like celery all that much so I don't waste my time or money on it.

Ok, I will make the modification and use REAL chicken. I like the idea of using HALF the bag of cheese, esp. with 2 blocks of cream cheese. I also like the idea of spreading it in the pan and baking it but since this is an office thing, I wanted to use the crock pot (on warm) because it has a cover. Next time I make this at home I will probably use the pan method.
Thanks!

Re: Halloween Office Potluck
You can make this the night before WITHOUT baking it. If your office has a microwave, just nuke it for 5 minutes or so prior to serving. I've done it before for one of our potlucks and the result is nearly the same as if it were baked in the oven. All you're doing when you bake it is heating it all the way through. It doesn't do anything for flavor.
EDIT: And it's better when everything is layered rather than mixed together in a crock pot. You can actually taste the different ingredients rather than all the ingredients mixing for one combined flavor.

That's why I keep half of it at home and bring the rest to work. The people I work with = pussies. They won't eat hot stuff, anyways. So, when it's all said and done, I have about 3/4 of what I made to enjoy at home. And, if everything else at the potluck sucks or looks to mysterious to try, I always have the dip to eat.
Because you know you don't always eat everything that's brought in. Everyone has that co-worker that brings stuff in that you WILL NOT eat no matter what.
