OK, the Wii thread got me thinking. What was your first gaming system?
Mine was the Atari (2600???). I loved Ms. Pac Man and Enduro!!!

Does Pong count as a console? If not, then it's Atari for me too.

Re: You're first gaming console was...
My parents had a Comodore 64, and we had many games for that. But my first real gaming console was the original Nintendo. Directional crosshair, start, select, A button, B button.

Odyssey 2. My cousins had the Atari 2600 and neighbors had the colecovision (which I think had the coolest controllers) I think my dad got the Odyssey2 through my uncle who worked at Magnavox and they gave sick discounts during christmas time. I wouldn't doubt that it cost more than a Wii at the time.

I stand corrected from the Wii thread. We had ColecoVision.

Re: You're first gaming console was...
I think I had the consoles from the first through the fifth generations and then bailed out until recently when I bought a wii to use wii fit. I wasn't really huge on video gaming but we had the first few generations as kids when my parents bought them as family gifts. I had NES in my 20's which my nephew used to call "pretendo" when he was a tot and either misheard the name or just couldn't say it right. I mostly played Super Mario Bros. and Zelda; got kind of bored with it and gave the stuff to my nephews.

I'd gotten a Sega system just for that motorcycle racing game. I gave all the games to my nephews/nieces.
My cousin had the Nintendo with a game called Gradius, use to spend lots of time on that game.

My brother and I had an Atari, but I can't seem to figure out which one it was. It had a keyboard, he taught me how to do a few really basic programming things to do with it. I've been looking around Google and can't seem to find a picture of it though. I have happy memories of playing Pitfall with my brother.
I bought myself a Nintendo 64 when I was in 6th grade and that's the newest game system I can claim to have owned or played
ETA:God Bless Wikipedia. It was an Atari 800XL

Ok the gaming geeks here will have to figure this out.
I am almost 41yo. We had the first two kinds of "video games" ever released. I know that Com 64 sounds very familiar, the other was an Atari and we played Pong... I don't think that I ever played the Com 64, my brothers always had it.

Re: You're first gaming console was...
I had a Vic-20, which was Commodore's value computer for those who couldn't afford the 64. I actually ran out of memory just programming simple games sometimes. But hey, William Shatner advertised it.iberlingirl wrote:Ok the gaming geeks here will have to figure this out.
