Fricker's Closed
Just saw the story on 21Alive aka INC that Fricker's on Wash Ctr closed on Sunday.
I've been there twice for lunch. Oh well, we all know that the Fort has plenty of other choices when it comes to grub.

Re: Fricker's Closed
I think they saw us in there and decided the best way to get rid of the likes of us was to shut the place down.
All kidding aside, I'm going to miss that place. I loved their wings (Little Kicker sauce was the best!). Except for my last visit, the service was usually pretty quick. I even enjoyed meeting up with Bman and the Obamamaniacs on the night of the 1st debate (or was it the 2nd???).
Maybe if Barack knew a place that held a viewing party for him was closing up shop, he'd arrange to have some pork sent to them?

LOL, I thought I heard a while back that the place where Hillary visited during her campaign (Sara's) filed for bankruptcy, everywhere them dems stop and grub ends up closing.

If I heard the story correctly, the owner gave no warning, just closed it down. My theory is that he owed some unpaid taxes and skipped town.LTRT wrote:Cincy Fan 44 wrote:Maybe if Barack knew a place that held a viewing party for him was closing up shop, he'd arrange to have some pork sent to them?

I guess I should clarify, I was referring to the Frickers closing, not the situation with Sara's.Vis wrote:Markwes wrote:If I heard the story correctly, the owner gave no warning, just closed it down. They filed chapter 11 in Nov 2008 and had debt of approximately 90K with about 1/2 of that being owed to the IRS. Not sure what you heard or their source but not only was it public record, it was also in the papers and on the news due to the Hillary attention.

Re: Fricker's Closed
Their corporate HQ in West Carrollton, OH (suburb of Dayton) went up in flames back in Sept due to remnants of hurricane Ike. I don't know if this contributed to the Fort's location's demise, but it couldn't have helped.

A co-owner is blaming the smoking ban and recession. I don't know. I have to think the sound barriers on I-69, which prevented thousands of people from seeing the restaurant while passing through, might have had something to do with it.

But Markwes, those people that chose to live near an interstate are entitled to their peace and quiet just like somebody who lives out in the boonies is...Markwes wrote:A co-owner is blaming the smoking ban and recession. Good point though. I'm sure there are a lot of businesses along the interstate that HATE those things!

You know its funny you see a lot of these places go to the way side and a lot of them blaming it on the smoking ban .
I think its bull if your place close its doors cause people can't come in and smoke then you had a problem to begin with right?
If its only good for smoking then say la vi!
If the food is great and the service great and the people nice the location doesn't matter and it will stay open because it has a reason to stay open !!
Smoke doesn't belong in a restaurant people around here are just now figuring that out lol, if I see smoke in a building I call 911
I think what is happening and this happened in South California when it went smoke free years ago, A bunch of fly by night places closed. In the first place there were way to many of these little stinky places all over Ft.Lame
