Help Shopaholic Decide Where to Eat!
Once a week, I get an evening out to go grocery shopping/errand running by myself (WOOT!). I try to make a night of it by grabbing a meal sans children and spouse. I'm running out of ideas though. So help me choose!
Preferences-
More north side resturants, although I do sometimes get down towards Jefferson Pointe.
Please recommend something tasty to try.
Can be either quick serve or more sit down, just as long as it's somewhere I can sit and read.

My wife and I often go to Moosewood BBQ and Ziffles. Both are pretty casual, relatively inexpensive and the food is good enough to bring up back. FYI, Moosewood is in the Marketplace of Canterbury, on the north end of the complex next to Subway. Ziffles is in Georgetown Square.

Thanks, I'll add those to my list. Sounds delightfully messy, I'd better pack a magazine on those nights.

You know, it crossed my mind today. I've heard good things and I wouldn't normally get to try it. And there's one maybe 5 minutes from my house. Any suggestions on what to get?

Re: Help Shopaholic Decide Where to Eat!
So last night was my weekly trip out and I tried Penn Station. I have to admit, I was a bit disapointed. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. My mom has been there before and really liked it so I invited her to come with. I went with Cincy's reccomendation and had the chicken teryaki. It was very dry. The flavor was ok, but the whole thing was missing some "juiciness." My mom had the philly steak and while it was better, I wasn't overly impressed. The fries I wouldn't get again, they came out mostly slightly soggy with a few small crispy ones. I would probably try it again, since I have "three strike" rule, but it'll be a while.
Oh, and Zesto's for dessert
Key Lime Frozen Yogurt was pretty good.

I'm glad you saw the light, I for one don't quite understand what's all the rage about Penn Station. I also have the 3-strike rule, but haven't yet made it there 3 times.

I have been once and really enjoyed it. I've been hankering for a while to go back and will be soon. I found a site that I can order a gift card at half price. (I'll gladly share the site when I dig up the link). That'll probably be a trip with the hubby though, cause I'll need a designated driver

I do wonder if I just got a lousy cooked sammy, but it'll probably be a while before I go back. They cook with peanut oil so it's not a Shopaholic family friendly resaurant. And lately I'm all about trying new places. So keep the ideas coming!

Re: Help Shopaholic Decide Where to Eat!
Sorry about your experience Shop. Maybe the location just isn't up to Penn Station's standards? Usually I go to the one near Jefferson Point and can't complain about it. Oh well...I tried dammit.
Re: Help Shopaholic Decide Where to Eat!
Shop, sometime you should try out Agauves (sp?) on Washington Center Road just west of Coldwater Road. They've got some very good Mexican food there.

I will try a different location next time I go. I hate to judge too much based on one visit. Thanks for the suggestion, I appriciate it

Husband and I were/are supposed to go with friends to try it sometime. If they don't get a date set, then I'm going by myself!Shop, sometime you should try out Agauves (sp?) on Washington Center Road just west of Coldwater Road. They've got some very good Mexican food there.

I still prefer Jimmy John's to Penn Station, hands down.Shopaholic wrote:So last night was my weekly trip out and I tried Penn Station. I have to admit, I was a bit disapointed. Hadn't thought of JJ. Does anyone know if the one on Coldwater has a place were you can sit and eat? I'm really not fond of eating directly in the rockermom-mobile.

It does has a small place to sit. About 8 tables. Wasn't impressed with the place though.
Re: Help Shopaholic Decide Where to Eat!
I agree with the Agaves suggestion, though I have only been there once. But I thought it was excellent the one time I was there.
