College Football '09 (Mostly ND & osu)
Bman, I'm calling you out. In another thread you said someting the the like of ND is dumbing down their scheduld this year. Lets compare the ND and osu schedules. Both teams play USC, michigan, Purdue and Navy. The three best remaining for ND are Michigan St., Boston College and Pittsburgh. The three best remaining for osu is Iowa, Wisconsin and Penn State.
FYI, ND's other opponents are Nevada, Wasington, Washington State, Connecticut, and Stanford. osu's other opponents are Toledo, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, and New Mexico State.
I would say from a preliminary point of view, the schedules are pretty even in difficulty.
Kudos to osu this year though, they didn't schedule one of those interstate Div. III schools.

Funny thing is though about your schedule is that most DOMERS call the Big 10 weak but those teams are the stars on your schedule.
Charlie goes 7 wins this year ... best ... Tressel wins AT LEAST 10.
Beer bet?

Taking a quick look at the 2009 schedule, based on last years records (hey, it's the best comparison we have right now), ND's opponents record is 76-77 for a winning percentage of 0.496. osu's opponents record is 75-75 for a winning percentage of 0.500. The opponents are similar in quality. I'm not necessarily arguing who will win more games, just arguing your statement that ND's sched is weak. Thank you for opening my eyes to how "weak" osu's schedule is this year.
By the way, the Big 10 schools, aside from Michigan State, are not the stars on ND's schedule. Michigan is a traditional power, but terrible last year, and will be a bit better this year. Purdue is and interstate rival, besides that they are nothing special. Not sure what you are talking about here.
If I was a betting man, I would take ND with 8 wins this year. osu with 10 wins is a good number too.

Couple questions for you football enthusiasts out there ....
1) How improved will Michigan be ... if Card was around would he be saying National Champs?
2) Can Florida repeat?
3) Will Nick Saban get another banner year from his clods in Tuscaloosa (sp?)
whoops ... my invite to lunch just came ...

1. Michigan will improve from last year but will not break into the top 15.
2. No to a Florida repeat.....expecting LSU to be the SEC top dog this year. Arkansas will surprise a few people also.
3. Nick Saban is a good coach, just hate him for what he done to Michigan State and LSU. So they will be better than expected unfortunately.

1) Not sure exactly, but coach Rod is a pretty good coach, even though I don't like him. They will be better this year, look at their record last year.
2) Yes. They return every starter from their defense this year. They will be very good.
3) They will compete. I don't know if they will be better than Florida but should represent the SEC very well.

Just wanted to freshen up this thread a bit. I'm loving the 7 wins statement.
