5 Strikes & Chris Henry is out with the Bengals

Evidently, the Bengals have a strict 5 strikes and you're out policy, as they've waived troubled wide receiver Chris Henry after he was arrested a 5th time since December 2005.

5 times?!? I imagine most of us on this board will make it thru our life w/out being arrested once! As a side note, I've heard Chris Henry and Maurice Clarrett are getting together on a movie project called "The Dumbest Yard."

Chris Henry is an idiot. He could have made millions in the NFL, but now I wouldn't doubt if he gets a life-time suspension (or at least a year ala Pacman Jones). He was blessed with an incredible ability to catch the football, but was obviously absent when God was passing out common sense/good judgment.

Thanks for the chuckle! I'm trying to imagine using that logic to discipline my kids.

"I'll let you off the hook this time, but don't do it again."
"Now what did I tell you. Stop it now."
"Now you're really ticking me off. If you do it again, you're in trouble."
"I can't believe it. You will be grounded, uh, if you do that just one more time!"

I'll give the Bengals credit (of course I will) for at the very least giving this guy a chance to turn his life around. Obviously, he's a very slooooooooooow learner.

I'm impressed that they let him go. Talent overrules everything else in Pro sports unless you are just really F'd in the head, and even then, if you have talent, someone will pay you (look at Mike Tyson).

My guess is part of their decision was based on the fact that they KNEW Roger would suspend him for at least a year, if not more, so by cutting him first they aren't out any money by having to pay him while he can't play. This also demonstrates a GREAT difference between the NFL and MLB... they CAN release idiots for whatever reason they want.

I bet he signs with the Cowboys if he ever gets reinstated.

In 5 years, Chris Henry will either be in jail or dead.

Only question is will he end up in Dallas or Oakland. I can't believe Jerry Jones is going after Pacman.

I can't believe they're giving Henry ANOTHER chance! Either he has naked pictures of Mike Brown, or the Bengals really are the dumbest organization in all of sports.

The Bungals are a dumpster fire.

A friend of mine gave me another perspective on this that I hadn't thought about. He said that the Bengals probably felt "legally obligated" to sign him back since the incident that he was released for in the first place was thrown out of court due to (if I remember correctly) lack of evidence. So it could be just a C.Y.A. type of thing for them legally. And after the incident that has now been thrown out of court, the NFL suspended him for 4 games. So now it will be interesting to see if there are any legal proceedings on the behalf of Henry against the NFL. Time will tell.
