Nope, I did find that wierd, is their a Ethiopian community here? Not exactly the country know for its cuisine. Still holding out hope for a Cuban restaraunt and who knows, got Ethiopian, maybe Cuban won't be far behind. Need some Ropa Vieja.

Speaking of restaurants, anyone been to the new "Tokyo International Buffet" or whatever it is? Guess it's in an old Ryan's on the northside.

Was thinking about hitting that place for lunch today. If I make it will let you know if it is any good.

Is that where you go to starve to death?
Re: Ethiopian Restaurant opens?
Toyko International.
First these are my opinions and my taste may not be the same as yours.
Walked thru the door and the restaraunt had a funny smell but did seem to go away (or I got used to it). Hey it could be the kimche. During my whole time there I kept staring through the window at Chipolte wondering why didn't I go there.
Hot & sour soup was thick
egg rolls were lacking
crab ragoon was mushy
lo mein was bland
honey chicken was fried too hard
chicken and broccoli was bland
sushi looked lacking (not a big sushi fan so unless I know it is good don't eat it).
Did have a stir fry area but didn't try it. Looked unappetizing compared to the flat top grill.
I won't be going back.

lunch today
Had lunch there today. Good if you like Indian type foods. But way too expensive for what i would consider 3 world food. Skimpy portions but lots of bread.
Oh and beware its all eaten without silverware. You just scoop everything up with the bread.

We ate that way in Mexico. I can't imagine what they eat in Ethiopia... does that restaurant have a website?
***Begin short personal experience
The most rural place we went was into the mountains of Michoacan for 2 days The first night there, after a 5 hour bus ride from Guadalajara to Colima, a 2 hour pickup truck ride, to Aquila then another ride, and 1 hour hike, we were camped on a ranch owned by a "friend". We were awaken to a rooster cocking and ate hand made tortilla's, with beans, eggs and chicken. If you're wondering, yes we learned during the meal it was THAT rooster we were eating. There, the traditional way to eat without seeming like stuck up "prissy" American tourist was to tear a piece of tortilla, grab some meat and eggs with it, then drag it through the beans and into your mouth. I was with it, no problem, I've seen it on TV. The only thing that might have been considered bad manners is if you dropped some of the beans on your chin before making it to your mouth... the object was to be skillful using the tortilla as a "spoon".
