Photo Op for the Olympics..........that FAILED!
Michelle Obama: It's a 'sacrifice' to travel to Europe to pitch for the Olympics. But I'm doing it for the kids.

Harder to ride a bike because funds dry up?
"the next Barack Obama,...the next Oprah Winfrey"
Uh...what sport did these two become all-stars in?
Did somebody write this gobbly-goo or did she make it up all by herself?

Mrs. Obama said bringing the Olympics to Chicago is especially important right now because "athletics is becoming more of a fleeting opportunity." "Funds dry up so it becomes harder for kids to engage in sports, to learn how to swim, to even ride a bike," she said. In addition, with childhood obesity on the rise, "it is so important for us to raise up the platform of fitness and competition and fair play," the first lady said.
Finally, having the Olympics in Chicago would be important to "let people know that we understand that sports saves lives, that it makes dreams come true, that it creates visions in kids’ heads to make them think they can be the next David Robinson, the next Barack Obama, the next Nadia Comaneci, the next Oprah Winfrey," Mrs. Obama said.

Come on LTRT. Think of this huge sacrifice she is making. And it's for the kids. If we don't have the Olympics in Chicago, some poor little kid will end up addicted to video games instead of becoming the next Oprah Winfrey.
Seriously, I thought that article had to have come from The Onion. But lo and behold, it's for real.

Yeah, she's no Barbara Bush, or Nancy Reagan, or Hillary Clinton, or Laura Bush... but come on REALLY what is the first lady's job?
Give her a break. Sink your teeth into something worthwhile. IMO, I'd play "catch'n release" for this. She's OUT CAMPAIGNING for the OLYMPICS IN CHICAGO this week, not settling national and international disputes.

Kinda like everyone here gave Sarah Palin a break? The fact that she's campaigning for the Olympics in Chicago isn't the point. The odd speech is. I can agree with her on that comment. How many dirt-poor kids who grew up with nothing had a chance to better themselves via sports? I don't have the numbers, but I would start out with "Tons." Anything from a college scholarship, to signing a pro-contract. Sports was their way out to better themselves, thus 'saving' their life. Just MHO.Markwes wrote:Kinda like everyone here gave Sarah Palin a break? The fact that she's campaigning for the Olympics in Chicago isn't the point. The odd speech is. And proper stretching is important before participating in sports, which is a good thing, because your post is quite a stretch.Cincy Fan 44 wrote:I can agree with her on that comment. I cant believe no one picked up on my pithy reference to sports saving lives... it's not like it's a stretch to imagine that people know the fouth verse...
'Ruby lips above the water,
Blowing bubbles, soft and fine;
But Alas! I was no swimmer,
So I lost my Clementine.'
Just for that I hope this song sticks in all y'alls head all day... I'm too chicken to google "Sarah Palin's cans" on my work PC...

so the first lady of the nation leading the world in morbid obesity shouldnt suggest if our +1/3 of morbidly obese kids would get up off their ass and get some exercise (and maybe their parents getting jobs to help chicago prepare)..which in fact is a huge part of what can save their lives and the quality thereof..she is going outside the perimeter of her first lady realm? sounds like somebody is hoping she will wear a sleeveless top again soon so we can all debate whether thats appropriate.

Guilty as charged (uh, I mean on the pithy reference). I think the last time I heard that song it was sung by Quickdraw McGraw. And he never made it to the 4th verse.Pez wrote:Pez wrote:Markwes wrote: Sports save lives?

By the way, according to Kroman, the reference doesn't work because swimming is not a sport.

spotted that vid on awb site a couple weeks ago too. i personally think the hitler-obama analogies are so ignorant and show a very clear lack of history knowledge. and no i didnt make hitler-bush analogies or like the insinuation by relatively few who did do so. and just to cover it in advance..i also didnt support bill clinton and his lack of a perception of the word "is".

Have a humor bone FF...I posted the same video a few weeks ago, only it was about Brett Favre signing with the Minnesota Vikings. It's also been done for other things. You may have missed it since it was in the Sports thread.

and wow that angry white boy website must be really good at predicting the future if that was made 2 weeks before Chicago got snubbed for the Olympics.
As a side note, I don't know why some Chicagoans were surprised they didn't get the Olympics...after all, Chicago ALWAYS gets eliminated in the first round!!!

Cincy, would you have a humor bone if this was done and Hitler was Bishop d'Arcy in a fit of rage over having lost the battle to have the abortionist speak at ND and you found it on Bill Maher's website?
