the hate crimes bill
i am glad there is continued debate on the hate crimes bill. i personally am in great fear of people potentially marrying their toasters.

support america, for those guilty of hate crimes make the fed punishment automatically heavier due to the target-specific nature.

Re: the hate crimes bill
So you agree that someone who is anti-toaster and commits a violent crime against someone who wants to marry their toaster should get a heavier penalty than a random violent act?floridafun wrote:i am glad there is continued debate on the hate crimes bill. i personally am in great fear of people potentially marrying their toasters.

An excellent point of view from a former Baptist minister on this issue. Kroman, this is where I base my views on this issue.

Not controversial at all ... just a very good read from a man who I believe understands the true meaning of being a Christian.

So what's the issue here? Enforce the existing laws in books using existing penalties in regards to violent crimes against all humanity or create additional penalties for for existing laws for a target group of people? Sounds like discrimination to me.
Bman, it is a true statement that everyone deserves to be treated fairly and equally regardless of their skin color, sexual orientation, yada yada yada. What's your point in regards to the Pastor walking with this group of people? If the point is we should all be compassionate towards one another and treat each other fairly then I can go along with that. If your point is that it is ok in the eyes of God to be gay then I disagree with you. I base that on what is in the Bible, not an article. Thanks for playing and dragging me in on this topic.

so you are agreeing to disagree with yourself. all, including gays, should be treated fairly and equally. but god isnt ok with gays being treated fairly and equally therefore you disagree.
how come you choose only the most currently controversial biblical obamanation(sp?) to be so adamant about? if you dont equally support and walk the walk of all the others you are being a proud cherry-picker, and telling god he is right on what supports your opinions but he is too old-fashioned to follow on others. shellfish eating? wearing mixed-textile clothing?

I wouldn't expect you to understand it. We've beaten this dead horse into the ground repeatedly but I'll add one more spank to the future glue stick. The bible is perfectly clear that homosexuality is a sin. It is one of many sins. You have sinned, I have sinned, bman has sinned. We are all sinners so keeping that commonality in mind when reading scriptures it is also perfectly clear that we should treat others as we want to be treated. It goes back to Christ loving everyone, even tax collectors who in those days were thieves.
Nothing contradictory about anything I've stated.

I think we need to be spending time and money on more important things... Not to mention that the legal conundrum of proving that a crime was motiviated by hate... WTF kind of violent crime is not motivated by hate?
Last time I looked I was free to hate gays, mexicans, republicans, rush limbaugh and black people if I wanted to be that kind of guy. I'm not free to commit crimes... This bill is a pointless pile of namby pamby horseshit.

I'm afraid the MTA (Man Toaster Alliance) disagrees. Just last night a guy and his significant Oster came home to find a bagel burning in the yard. What kind of monsters are we to allow this??!?!Pez wrote:I think we need to be spending time and money on more important things...
