I wasn't sure where to post this text from an email a friend sent to me. It's funny though. I hope nobody gets offended!

To All My Liberal Friends:

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2010, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere .. Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wish.

I was wondering the same thing myself meta, why post the topic in a political thread instead of chitter/chatter?
Making it political makes it even merrier...

And why is it a big deal about what people call it, celebrate whatever it is you do celebrate and let others do their thing as well.

Life is too short for this kinda thing in my opinion.

So to everyone celebrate whatever you celebrate and enjoy the time with your families, friends etc.

I was talking the other day to a guy in jersey that practices a religion that doesnt celebrate Christmas. I was actually a bit touched when he'd asked about my holiday plans and shared what he was going to do etc. I found it to be an exemplary example of respect and awareness of diversity.

No scrooge here, as I'm sure the regulars can reflect. I was just pointing out the presence of Merry Christmas in teh national politic thread. Some here (me) get funny more so about thread to topic relationship than the topic of discussion. I call that "context".

I agree so why bother posting a complaint about the location of a topic? The content of the original post is political humor. So it is in the appropriate forum I suppose????? Am I wrong???? I guess it's left up to one's interpretation so who is right? Who cares. Merry Christmas!!!!!

You're right!!! Some people get their nose out of joint over trivial stuff. Jesus is the reason for the day!!!! 365 days a year!!!
