Another School Board Going Overboard.

Really, is it that big of a deal that they have to cancel prom? I have followed this story a couple of days now. At first it was just to bring her date. In response the school board cancels the whole Prom. I hope the judge reinstates it. And good going for the hotelier from New Orleans willing to give the kids a prom.

And before anyone says it the South. The JG article on the laundry and a couple of Pat White topics I caught parts of the last couple of days, it wouldn't surprise me here.

I'd say they went a bit overboard. 12 years ago at my senior prom two girls went together. And believe it or not, nobody caught on fire or anything!

I'd say it was WAY overboard. Now the girl will be ridiculed and bedeviled by her classmates for cancelling prom, when it was the administration that chose to do so. It would be nice if her classmates stood behind her. (Didn't read the linked story; heard it on the radio. I say this just in case her classmates stood behind her in solidarity, but I would doubt it.)

It's definitely confusing. The last I knew, proms didn't require that students have a date, let alone worry about who the date is. It's like the mentality of some teachers I remember who used to punish the class for something an individual would do. That's some fine life lessons there.
