Re: CA Judge Overturns Gay Marriage Ban
The right to marry is a "special" right?" For straight men and women there's nothing special about it at all.
I'm personally indifferent to gay marriage, but what I do care about, and what I feel is the larger issue is the shaky grounds on which states will deny gays the right to marry. The legal precedent that describes gays as a demographic protected from discrimination should not allow our society to prevent them from marrying. I dont know how we can deny gays the right to marry without opening the door to denying rights to other protected demographics. This "Pandoras Box" (in my view), ius a considerably larger risk than the imagined (and a few real) risks of allowing gays to marry.

That's right nothing special about a man and woman marrying. Something special when you let men and men or women and women marry.

Only the bible mentions man and woman ... the constitution does not. Some of you seem to confuse those two documents.

Why is it "special" when it's two men or two women? I see it as equal and same rights, not special. Maybe we should call straight marriage "special" and outlaw it and outlaw all marriages and make everyone single and have to use the single tax payer rates, not allow your special someone help make your end of life decisions etc ... No one is asking for special rights. Special rights would be "allow gays and lesbians to marry and give us a special tax break to make up for all the atrocities we have faced over the years" ... that would be special, but treat Scooby and Cincy the same as Pez and his wife is NOT special.
