Crisis in Egypt
Crazy stuff going on. I just wanted to comment about a morning news segment I saw where an American reporter was talking to protesters. One protester told her she should leave and when she asked why, the answer was something along the lines of "because we hate Americans". As far as I could tell, she was not taking sides, just doing her job. Just goes to show that there is no making peace with some middle Easteners. Just imagine the outcry if a Middle Eastern reporter came here and was told that about their country.
By the way, this might come as a surprise, but I think Obama is handling this pretty well. He has made the USA's stance on this quite clear.

Yea, he had a rough start, but came into it. I think the idea that supporting a dictator in the name of stability is tired idea. I read the other day that we give Egypt $100 Billion a year, of which they spend $800 Million on American built war machines and supplies.

Which means Egypt has saved or created as many or more American jobs than Obama.

I'm sure if they set up a democratic government more of my money will go there and in turn buy weapons for a region that arguably needs less. But hey, a job is a job. We could say that one day we will be called upon to root the Taliban from Egypt and we will have to go fight against our own weapons... which sounds kind of familiar...

We were a supplier to Iraq for a while, supplier to Bin Laden when he was fighting the Russians in Afghanistan. We just don't sell them the really cool stuff.
