Replacement Refs
I cannot believe the owners are not being more vocal about the officiating with the replacement refs. They are horrible, no other words for it. Is it really worth destroying the NFL brand to save a couple of bucks. It might be time for Roger Goodell to go.

Re: Replacement Refs
Yes the officiating has been horrible. The game last night will really bring this to a head. I have to admit that I do not know the specifics of what the referees are asking for compared to what the NFL is willing to give. But everyone seems to be blaming Goodell. Is this really all on him? Just wondering because it takes two to tango.

Re: Replacement Refs
From what I have figured out on it. The refs contract ended this summer. The refs never took a strike vote, the NFL just locked them out. That I would put on Goodell. Basically it has to do with ending there pension. I can't blame the NFL for that. The refs have asked to have current refs grandfathered in; the NFL refuses.
This is why I blame Goodell. Locked out the refs the moment he could, even though they were not going to strike. Hired replacement refs the moment he could. Not meeting with the union refs in timely fashions.
I blame the NFL owners for not putting pressure on Goodell to settle the strike. I am glad it is causing so much controversy and outcome of these games are being decided by bad calls.

Now just to show I am biased against Goodell. I don't like how he handled the Saints situation. He basically had a dissasified coach complain and forced another coach "Gregg" fo sign another statement saying they did it. I am sort of with Vilma on his complaint.

Re: Replacement Refs
Yes he has shown in the past how he likes to strongarm players and coaches, and now refs.
