Reds Mascot Vows To Get A "Head" In Life
Funny stuff...what it didn't show is video of the 2 mascots hugging each other later...while the hug was probably meant to give fans a warm N fuzzy feeling, I imagine the one guy probably said something like, "Don't drive so f'n fast!"

Kind of symbolic of the Reds fall in recent years.
Sorry, couldn't resist.

I think there might be a pending break up between Mark and Cincy here after that comment.

No, no I totally agree. This 8 year losing drought can be tough to take, but I'll stick with them through the thin and thinner. At the very least, I'm glad I root for a team that has multiple World Series CHAMPIONSHIP banners from the past 40 years to hang in their ballpark, unlike those obnoxious cubs fans who haven't seen a winner in a century.Bman wrote:I think there might be a pending break up between Mark and Cincy here after that comment.

I heard that Marty Brenneman was booed by some of the Cubs fans in attendance when his name was announced prior to one of the games this last series. He said something about it being the first time he was booed in his own park.

Yeah, I read that too. I think it solidified his opinion.Markwes wrote:I heard that Marty Brenneman was booed by some of the Cubs fans in attendance when his name was announced prior to one of the games this last series. He said something about it being the first time he was booed in his own park.

His 'opinion' is not valid.
To say Cubs fans are more obnoxious than ANY of the following...
Yankees fans
Red Sox fans
Phillies fans
White Sox fans
...is an IDIOTIC statement. He deserved to get boo'd. People who say stupid things like that deserve the backlash.
When's the last time a Cubs fan hit a Cardinals fan with a car and killed them?
When's the last time Cubs fans charged the field to beat up an umpire?
I love Brenneman, but his statement was a stupid one. Of course, it's gotta be tough to call the games on your home field in front of more visiting fans than hometown fans EVERY TIME the Cubs are in town. Wrigley South *is* a great ballpark, though.

Marty did say that he couldn't speak for the Red Sox or Yankees fans b/c they don't see them often enough. I agree with you though the Phillies fans are obnoxious, but I don't see them blaming a goat or some guy simply trying to catch a foul ball (that Moises Alou finally admitted he couldn't have caught, if I'm not mistaken) for their misfortunes.Fleek wrote:Cincy Fan 44 wrote:Yeah, I read that too. Also, didn't some Cubs fan do something REALLY idiotic last year in a game against the Rockies? There was yet another blown save by the cubs (blew something like a 5 run lead or so), and this guy comes charging on the field and going after the pitcher. Yeah, they're not obnoxious AT ALL.
Re: Reds Mascot Vows To Get A "Head" In Life
I never said Cubs fans aren't obnoxious. Fans, period, are obnoxious.
The Bartman situation would have been the same in ANY major league city. But because it's the Cubs, non-Cubs fans think it would only happen in Chicago. The kid got the raw end of the deal, for sure. But, like I said...it's not because it happened in Chicago. The outcome would've been the same in Cincinnati, Kansas City, Milwaukee, LA, etc.
The same with Bill Buckner, who received death threats for missing a ground ball. Put him on any other team and the outcome would've been the same.
Fan is short for fanatic. Fanatics, for the most part, take sports WAAAAY too seriously. These idiots are EVERYWHERE. Not just in Chicago. But because Chicago's one of the biggest major league cities AND because they haven't won a World Series in 100 years, the attention is ALWAYS on them.
