After seeing 21's interview this morning on this, I decided to buy tickets for my husband and son to go.
Is anyone else planning on going?

Too expensive. If it was cheaper maybe. My daughter just turned 2 so she might be a little young for it anyways.

I have to agree with you on that. If I want my kids (at this age) to see life-like dinosaurs, I'd just break out the first 2 Jurassic Parks I still have on VHS. Yeah, they're not scary at all...

Giant robotic reptiles will entertain crowds at the biggest show ever to hit coliseum
By Cindy Larson
of The News-Sentinel
You know it's a big deal when Memorial Coliseum officials roll out food, fire up a fog machine and even talk a county commissioner into reading a proclamation — all to announce a big event.

On Tuesday, coliseum Manager Randy Brown acknowledged it wasn't just a big event, it's the biggest event ever at the venue, requiring 27 trucks to deliver everything needed for the show.

What could possibly be that big, you ask? Oh, just the biggest thing ever known to roam the earth.

Dinosaurs.
From May 28 to June 1, the traveling show “Walking With Dinosaurs — The Live Experience” will call Fort Wayne home. Ten huge animatronic “dinosaurs” of various species will stomp, thrash, roar and snarl their way into the main arena. The largest, a Brachiosaurus, is 36 feet tall and 56 feet long. Each of the large dinosaurs weighs 1.6 tons and requires a team of three people to operate. The sizes of the dinosaurs are “based on actual fossil findings,” said Scott Faris, director of the show.

“This is a historic day for Memorial Coliseum,” Brown said.

Although the show could be too realistic and scary for very small children, Brown said the only time he saw children getting upset at the Rockford show was during a scene in which lightning and thunder are simulated.

Cost: Regular tickets are $29.50, $44.50 and $69.50. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Memorial Coliseum ticket office, all Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com or charge by phone at 424-1811.

Heard about this on WOWO news yesterday and what caught my attention was the phrase "family friendly". I'm sure teens would probably enjoy it, but somehow I can't fathom animatronic dinosaurs 36' tall and 56' long as something friendly to kids say under 7 or 8 let alone to little ones. And the prices, boy there's something that's sure 'family friendly'. Over $280 for a family of 4 for up close and personal seating. Heck, people complain & moan about the $4 parking fee. I can see it now, some dad hires an atty and sues the Coliseum, show promoter & the city for the mental anquish his kids had to go through. How many of you guys with little ones going to take your kids?

I can't get excited over a bunch of mechanical dinosaurs. Hubby thinks it looks cool, but there's no way we're spending that much money on it. I really can't believe all the hype over it. It's a glorified puppet show.

i took my stepdaughter and we both had a great time. she loved it.

we should have opted for midrange seats as I think they would have been better.

there were people in the cheap seats at the top of the coliseum... i can't imagine those woulda been much good.

obviously it would be hard to put all the years of dinosaurs in a two hour program but I felt the "storyline" was rushed.
