Culvers is a custard store, Dupont Rd. just east of I-69.
I forget about that place.. I guess I consider it a restaurant more than an ice cream place.. although after eating there, they should drop the food.

I'm not to familiar with the smoking crap but if all of those doors opened, it would make a nice bar.

WE HAVE OUR ANSWER
http://www.bar-b-cutie.com/index.htmEx-Cabana to open with barbecue fare
After years of sitting vacant, the former Taco Cabana is being renovated to house a new eatery, the quick-casual Nashville, Tenn.-based chain Bar-B-Cutie.
The restaurant, at 301 E. Washington Center Road, is expected to open in mid- to late August and will have a drive-through.
Bar-B-Cutie’s lunch and dinner menus include barbecued pork, beef brisket, country-fried steak, roasted turkey, wings, burgers, baked potato entrées, salads, chili, desserts and more. Catering is also available.
This location will be one of Indiana’s first; the other new restaurant will be in Edinburgh.
Taco Cabana closed in October 2004.
Dibbs on how long this one will last?

Get Your Booty to Bar-B-Cutie? Wow, good thing they trademarked that catchy phrase.

Maybe it will be like Hooters or Joe's Crab Shack.
Hot waitresses and crappy food.

First thing I thought when I saw the webpage was Joe's Crab Shack. Since I never even went to Joe's, it doesn't look likely I'd go to a bbq spin off of it.

A friend of mine said his wife would hate it whenever they would eat at Red Lobster and he would ask the waitress, "Do you have crabs?"Markwes wrote:My only regret is not getting a "Got Crabs?" t-shirt when it was still in town.Shopaholic wrote:Oliver's Army wrote:Maybe it will be like Hooters or Joe's Crab Shack.

Looks like it's more of a fast food place, so the high school hotties will be behind the counter.

Yep, food will probably suck.

Re: Old Taco Cabana Building
Alot of BBQ joints have suck ass food. It seems like once a joint goes big and gets commercialized, the quality goes down and the profitability goes up. I can understand this, but it's just too bad. The only ribs that I rave about in town were ones that I had a Dicky's Wild Hare, which is serving the former Chuckwagon BBQ cuisine. Other places' ribs are good, just nothing to rave about. Although I am far from a professional cook, I can make some mean ribs, briskett and pulled pork at home on my pit. I would much rather have my own rather than some of the stuff out there.
There is a new BBQ joint that opened up in the Marketplace of Canterbury just behind the Subway in the old Aspen Coffeehouse location. This place is owned by the same group that owns Dicky's, it's called Moosewood BBQ. I wonder if they will be serving the old Chuckwagon BBQ food there as well.

Re: Old Taco Cabana Building
Went to Bar-B-Cutie on Friday and got the BBQ pork combo. The sandwich was pulled pork and was supposed to have BBQ sauce on it, it had about a teaspoon. Other than that the sandwich was really good. I got a side of onion rings. They were okay, but typically previously frozen onion rings. Reminded me of Burger Kings. Service was pretty quick, went through the drive thru. One thing I thought was weird is when I paid they said my food would be just a moment. Couple minutes went by and I got my food and drink. They said they didnt want to give me my drink when I paid because they didnt want it to be watered down by the time I got my food.

But how was the food besides the onion rings and cokes?

Re: Old Taco Cabana Building
It was ok. The pork had a good taste. Will probably go back just because I love BBQ and there are not a ton of quick places to get it

Re: Old Taco Cabana Building
Wow, that has got to be the worst G.D. restaurant name I've ever heard. I just can't picture a bunch of burly construction guys that are working on I-69 right now, sitting down inside this joint putting away some ribs. Seems like a niche market of soccer moms and high school kids. The name alone oozes shitty food. I'd say they should have looked for a place farther north, maybe centering around Dupont Rd between Auburn and Lima, or maybe the Huntertown area. I expect the For Sale sign to be pounded in by next spring.

Bar-B-Cutie closes
Bar-B-Cutie, 301 E. Washington Center Road, has served its last barbecue dinner. The restaurant closed Saturday. Franchise owner Don Elmore said the economy was a factor and that the restaurant wasn’t generating enough traffic. The restaurant opened in September 2008.
And I didn’t even get to check it out, awww shucks.
