VP Selection
Okay we have the two candidates. You're a close advisor for both candidates. Who would you want on the ticket with your candidate? No reason's need to be given. Pick up to 5 people for each side.
Bman...be nice and pick for both sides as if you are totally neutral

Re: VP Selection
For Obama:
Evan Bayh (safety pick)
Claire McKaskill (will contrast well with McCain, and be on message for his campaign, will incense the liberal haters)
Sherrod Brown (would help in Ohio, but of dubious qualifications)
Joe Biden (Not sure about this one, could help with the white folks, dont think they really like each other)
Ann Richards (would be great except that she is dead)
For McCain:
Mitt Romney (I think he's almos a shoe in)
Kay Baily Hutchinson (would be an awesome pick for him)
Charlie Crist (Fla gov.)

Re: VP Selection
Don't know a lot of the players out there, but here goes...
McCain = Mitt Romney
Obama = John Edwards
McCain = Mitt Romney
Obama = John Edwards
Re: VP Selection
For Obama:
1) Wes Clark or former General Anthony Zinni (sp?) (listed two as ex of military types)
2) Hillary Clinton (women voters)
3) Joe Biden (gravatis on foreign affairs)
4) Ted Strickland - Gov Ohio or Ed Rendell-Gov Pa (listed two gov I would consider)
5) Chuck Hagel (cross party/military/straight shooter)
For McCain
1) Romney
2) Huckebee
3) Crist
4) Lieberman (McCain owes him something .. VP or Sec of State)
5) Kay Bailey Hutchinson
Pez, I like your Claire McKaskill choice, very well spoken and a very ardent supporter ... she should have some role in the admin, not sure we want to lose her as a senator though, GREAT woman.

Re: VP Selection
McCain:
Mitt - Gives him someone with obvious knowledge of economics, and can beat anyone in a televised debate
Liberman - I'd almost like to see him get the nod just to piss off all the Michael Savage's of the world, plus it'd be fun to hear him say they've got "Joementum".... or is that only on Bob and Tom?
Crist - Hard to pass up someone who could carry Flo Rida, but what else can he do?
Obama:
Bayh - not a good choice, he's already got midwest roots, and Bayh isn't well known nationally, plus he supported Hillary
Bloomberg - Brings NY to the table and could counter Mitt's economic advantage at the VP slot.
Edwards - Could have the Prez nomination had he just stayed in the race....
Past that.. I know no one on the dem's side..

obama:
bill richardson

no other guess at this time...i think he will choose someone who will be a big surprise but a good fit. possibly military, definately one who common folk will relate well to. obama thinks things thru very well and i expect it to be a surprise.
i dont think it will be kathleen sebelius but i think she will be offered a good position. i do like her.
i think he will/should say bayh bayh bayh to bayh..what does he bring to the table?
i look for hillary to head up the health care plan or education..but she will not get 100 per cent of her wants..he is THE boss after all ;-)
i dont think it will be edwards altho he will get a good cabinet position.
i dont think it will be clark. but will find something for him.

Re: VP Selection
I think Clark would be a catch 22.. you'd have someone who could offset McCain's military advantage.. and perceived strength over Obama in National Defense, but he'd be bringing in someone with even less experience than he has. And that's really the biggest thing that people doubt about it....
He's a politician which is strike 1, so many people (like myself) won't trust him because they all lie. We already know neither candidate can pay for everything they are promising, so it's a matter of who do you believe will get the most important stuff through.

LOL...could you imagine Madden sitting in a cabinet meeting listening to someone else talk, and then leaning over to the President, saying "Here's a guy that that that that when he speaks...words come out of his mouth...kinda like this (Madden wips out a telestrater pen to illustrate)..."Fleek wrote:John Madden

I like Sebelius but I think she lacks experience for the VP slot. Obama is young enough already and I think he should go with someone older.
Bayh is young, good looking. I'd could see him with the VP slot.

Re: VP Selection
Condi could be an interesting choice to try to appeal to a lot of the women voters that Hillary had, especially IF BHO doesn't include Hillary on the ticket. I don't know though if she would carry too much baggage from being part of W's admin or not though...what do you think?floridafun wrote:mccain:condi

This is the kind of talk that would get me to show more interest in politics. Keep it up, fellas!
Is it getting hot in here? *whew*

Re: VP Selection
Could you imagine, at the top of every hour, Buffet would simply look at his watch and say, "It's 5 o'clock somewhere!" and they'd spend the next 40 minutes drinking margaritas...Bman wrote:I personally like the Jimmy Buffet idea ... margarita's could become our national drink.
