Re: The Olympics
The men's swimming 800x4 relay was amazing. Phelps started and the US had a full body lead after his leg. The others continued to expand the lead. Another gold for US in world record fashion by 5 seconds and the team were the first ever to shatter the 7 minute mark.

Noticing the people rush in forming a camera barrier... is that a regular Olympics custom? If not, that impressed me as being very respectful to the athlete.

Re: The Olympics
I just watched the video of that (shivers down the back). Gruesome! Reminds me of Joe Theisman's injury to an extent or Tim Krumrie in Super Bowl XXIII.
Re: The Olympics
Wow! I just saw Phelps almost lose a race. He came from behind and won literally by a fingernail! Simply amazing! The look on his mom's face was incredible...

Re: The Olympics
Okay, I'm slightly addicted to the Olympics now!!! Michael Phelps just did it!!! 8 Gold Medals!!! Simply amazing!!!
Re: The Olympics
Dara Torres (at 41) was amazing as well! In the heat she edge out a 16 yr old and in the final came home with a Silver medal.
Side note: a 38 yr old from Romania wins the women's marathon.
Chalk it up for the old babes.

The trampoline is now an Olympic sport!?!?!?!?!?! Unbelievable. When are they going to make corn-hole or bean bags an Olympic sport?

Re: The Olympics
May & Walsh get the gold in beach volleyball defending their Athens gold. I watched the game which was played in a continuous downpour, that was different. Got a kick out of the post game interview though, the guys asks them about 2012 and they responded they didn't know about that, they just want to make babies.

I cant believe the focus on the faces of those two when they are playing. You rarely see them argue, or say much to each other aside from what appears to be matter of fact chatter about who they are going to stomp the daylights out of next... I was looking forward to their sand covered wet white bathing suit roll on the pitch like in 2004, but they kept it a bit tamer this year.
Whatever lucky guy would ever have a threesome with those two would probabaly just explode.

Re: The Olympics
I like the blonde one, although I'd settle for the burnette also.

Re: The Olympics
Walsh is the blonde.. May-Treanor is the brunette.
Here's why I hate the Olypmics at times.. Softball is being taken away because America dominates. Ok.. why is Table Tennis a sport? And Badminton? Not to mention NO ONE watches these games (even the chinese aren't paying attention according to reports).
Then they take a medal away from a guy who throws a tantrum, but they won't investigate the Chinese who are putting up 12 yr olds in Gymnastics? Come on.

Re: The Olympics
Good points Card. Plus I heard baseball is being taken away because the IOC wants Major Leaguers in it, but the scheduling obviously doesn't work out.

I think the reason baseball and softball are being eliminated from the Olympics is because it is no longer a worldwide sport. Yes, every decent country has a team, but it is not widely played outside of North America, South America, and Japan. That being said, does anyone play badmitton without a beer in one hand next to a lake besides the Chinese?

I watched both table tennis and badminton... The guy that threw the tantrum actually tried to attack a judge... so he f'n deserved it... I agree they should investigate the Chinese... no flipping way some of those girls are 16...
They wont tho... the fact that the Olympics are in Beijing alone proves the corruption of the IOC... no way they will provide anything more than lip service to an investigation of the host country... they have already rec'd a black eye for choosing Beijing to begin with, anything that reflects badly on Beijing/China will reflect badly on the IOC...

Ugh, I forgot about the equestrian events until I just saw it on NBC. Who is doing all the running and jumping? Yeah, the horses. So basically we have horses competing against each other in the Olympics.

In that case, they should have a wiener dog race, and I'll betcha Fleek could bring home the gold!Markwes wrote:Ugh, I forgot about the equestrian events until I just saw it on NBC.
