Can the Astros play the Reds again?
They could use the improvement in their win/loss record.
Cincy Fan, had to post that just for you. Not that the Astros have had a great season by any means, but it was nice to see them beat up on someone.

Cheer up Cincy. At least football season is coming up and you have the Bengals to look forward .... Oh, scratch that.
Heh heh. I know, I know. I'm a Bears fan. How can I diss anyone else's team.

LOL...yuk it up there Aggie! No biggie...I think the Reds have quit on this year. Really a shame. This is the worst I've seen them ever play. Ever. (That was a good post though!Aggie Transplant wrote:They could use the improvement in their win/loss record.![]()

Because at least your team has won a Super Bowl, and not come within 34 seconds of winning one. Damn you Joe Montana. Damn you!Markwes wrote:Cheer up Cincy. At least football season is coming up and you have the Bengals to look forward .... Oh, scratch that.

I fully expect a 6 win season out of my Bengals, my friend. Anything more is gravy.

...and it looks like the Reds traded Dunn for a can of waxed green beans and a pork samwich.

Well there goes any reason to watch for the rest of the year. Jocketty is cleaning house. The Deads will be lucky to score more than 2 runs a game the rest of the way.IrishGuy wrote:Dunn traded to the D-backs.

Naw, I think part of the deal was that Kings Island could now call their new roller coaster "Diamondback" if the Deads would agree to trade Dunn to the Diamondbacks...IrishGuy wrote:...and it looks like the Reds traded Dunn for a can of waxed green beans and a pork samwich.
Re: Can the Astros play the Reds again?
The more and more I think about it, trading Dunn was probably a good thing for the Deads. He was in the last year of his contract, and was probably going to be gone via Free Agency anyway. Sure he was good for good for 40 HRs, 100 RBIs, and 100 walks a year. But he was also good for 170+ strikeouts too, and could never seem to get a 2 out hit with runners in scoring position. What did all of that offense get the team in his time with them? Not one winning season. Granted it wasn't all his fault be a longshot, but they were in last place with him, and they can finish in last place without him. His defense wasn't all that great either, and his arm was adequate at best. So this saves them at least $12 to $15 million a year - money that hopefully will be used to get some guys who can hit in the clutch and play solid defense...hopefully.
So now the page turns to a new chapter for the Deads. No Griffey. No Dunn. No Josh Hamilton (who they traded to get a pretty good pitcher in Volquez). Those 3 were their starting outfield of last year. Now, it's Jay Bruce, and Corey Patterson (UGH!), and more than likely they'll call up rookie Chris Dickerson (who I met a couple of years ago down in Portland on the Reds Caravan).
Makes me wonder...the Reds usually increase ticket prices by $5 when a team like the Indians or the Yankees or the Red Sox come to town. So do other teams DECREASE ticket prices when the Deads come to town??? Just wonderin'...

Re: Can the Astros play the Reds again?
What are the Reds going to do now? They're going to miss that whopping .233 (.247 lifetime) batting average.

Yeah, they should probably just fold up the franchise and move it to Montreal.Fleek wrote:What are the Reds going to do now? They're going to miss that whopping .233 (.247 lifetime) batting average.
