What are you Favorite 5 Sci-Fi Movies?

Mine (in no particular order)...

1. Matrix
2. RoboCop
3. Star Trek: First Contact
4. Empire Strikes Back
5. V (yes, I know it was made for TV, but I loved that series)

Fifth Element
Matrix Series
Donnie Darko
Alien
Serenity

Since I'm not much into a lot of sci fi, My choices are not very diverse.

Anything Star Trek
Anything Star Wars

HAHAHA, what made you think I like sci-fi movies? I just looked through my modest movie collection and I see that I have a grand total of one sci-fi movie. But there are definitely some good ones out there, so good call. Jugo had a great pick I would have forgotten about with Donnie Darko - very intriguing movie.

I don't think I can say this is a consistent order, but I'll go with:

1) The Matrix
2) Star Wars
3) Donnie Darko
4) Alien
5) 2001: A Space Odyssey

1. Blade Runner (no one mentioned this??)
2. Until The End of the World (only barely sci-fi)
3. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
4. 2001: A Space Odyssey
5. Terminator

1) Star Wars - All 6 (if I have to pick only one though, #3)
2) Spaceballs
3) T2
4) Back To The Future
5) Species (never seen it, but any movie that has the plot line of Natasha Henstridge having lots of sex is a winner in my book)

I think Empire was the best one of the old series, #2 was the best one of the new series... #1 of the new series was easily the worst...

Or, to make it easier, refer to them in the correct order [(new)1-3, (old) 4-6]. :-)

I couldnt remember all the names... sorry to tangent this thread... I ranked them according to my faves, with 6 being the worst:

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (6)
Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2)
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (4)
Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (3)
Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (1)
Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (5)

the real #3... not #6. I'm a Star Wars nut.. so I just assume everyone knows the first two were 4,5,6 and the second two were 1,2,3... so I don't clarify anymore, just a habit.

I actually like 2 and 3 about the same.. both feature Yoda kicking ass, but 3 has the transformation of Anakin. The first trilogy seems a little darker to me, that's why I like it better. Same goes for Batman, I like the Begins the best, but I haven't seen "Dark Knight" yet.

I went to dark knight yesterday... see it in the theater... I'm sure it will still be around for weeks... loved it... the joker was phenomenally bad...

Okay, has anyone ever seen the movie "Cube"? I used to rent movies I thought were going to be "bad" because sometimes dumb horror movies can be funnier than actual legit comedies ("Jack Frost" for instance). I didn't think this one was that great, but the plot was definitely intriguing. Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone else has ever seen it and what they think about it.
