Hello My Name is Rksgrl and I am addicted to board games
Hello My Name is Rksgrl and I am addicted to board games. Not only the typical ones that you can buy at Target, but the ones you buy at specialty stores. My current favorite is Ticket to Ride. I also really like Settlers of Catan.
Anyone else out there a board game junkie?

Never heard of them, but those kinds of games are pretty cool.
About the closest thing I have is "HeroQuest". It came out in the late 80's by Milton Bradley I think. It was like a dungeons and dragons board game with all sorts of 3-D parts, figures, etc...

Only play the classics now, Monopoly, Scrabble and Yahtzee. As a kid I was addicted to Statego and Battleship.

Apples to Apples is a good game, though not exactly of the "board" variety. I'm also a fan of the game everyone seems to love to hate - Trivial Pursuit. Yeah, pretty much just the mainstream board games for me.

My problem with trivial pursuit is most of the popular culture stuff happened before I was born. Now, the 80's and 90's editions I can do.

Settlers of catan is a very very cool game... as I remember, the board is comprised of hexagonal pieces that you "deal out" each time you play, so the board is physically always different... a novel sort of concept for a game... The only thing I dont like about it is that there are many many small pieces that seem as if they can be better designed... like a little detent for the roads to sit in etc...

My favorite board game is Pente, then probably most versions of Trivial Pursuit. I am the opposite of Jugo - anything 90s or past is probably too new for me. (ugh, I feel ancient saying that!)

It's more of a card game, but my all time favorite is Mille Borne. My parents played it when I was younger. My mom recently gifted me a new set. I wish my husband was more of a game player so I could play more often!

The only Board game I still have from my youth is The Mad Magazine game. It's actually kind of enjoyable.

Yeah, same here, but I still think it's fun. Though, for the record, I do have more success getting people to play the 90's edition.

When we play board games w/my nieces and nephews, I like to play the original version of Life. (the new version has several differences.)
When the family is all together at T-giving, we play several different versions of Scene-It. Also, we play Quiddler, which is like Scrabble using cards. (technically not a board game.)
