Re: McCain's VP????
Mitt's the only person I've heard mentioned.. no clue who else is considered.
I just wonder if the news platforms are going to publish as many pictures of McCain with a blank look up into the sky like they have with BO.. this is getting a bit ridiculous.

Re: McCain's VP????
CNBC is reporting that Alaskan Governor, Sarah Palin just flew into Dayton.... so they are thinking she's there to meet McCain to announce her as the VP.
Odd pick.. a state with only what, 3 electoral votes, but she's a woman (will attract all the feminists that were for Hillary) but they are thinking she'll be a great pick for the economy.. I really know nothing of her.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarah_Palin
Pretty interesting.. smoked pot, hunts, flys, was runner up for Miss Alaska and was the whistleblower for the Republican Parties ethical violations.. seems to be a bit of a "Maverick" in her own rite.

I heard on the radio this morning that a bunch of the VP candidates were flying in to Dayton (including Lieberman) to keep the media guessing...we shall see...cardinal5150 wrote:CNBC is reporting that Alaskan Governor, Sarah Palin just flew into Dayton.... so they are thinking she's there to meet McCain to announce her as the VP.

Lets see McCain try to keep it "above the desk"...
She's hot like Maggie on Northern Exposure

I'm serious... she's freakin' HOT... for a VP.

Re: McCain's VP????
CNN is now reporting that the VP candidate will indeed be Sarah Palin from Alaska...interesting! I wonder if the Hillary supporters will throw their support to McCain because of this, or stick to party lines? (Granted it didn't work out so well for Walter Mondale in '84, but I don't think Gerry F. was actually running for president before that either.)
Re: McCain's VP????
I'd call them sell out whores if they go republican just because she's a woman (or black, in the case of Obama). Should be choosing based on the candidates stand on issues.

Re: McCain's VP????
i dont think it wll be sarah because there is an investigation underway regarding possible abuse of power, all dems and repubs in the area voted that an investigation was needed, plus because her short-time experience would seem odd because thats his biggest criticism of obama readiness; her lack of any foreign policy etc experience which is the other thing he likes to hit obama with. he is 73..he needs someone who can take the 3 am call if anything happens to him.

bad timing for it to be tom ridge with fema record during katrina (is fema is under homeland security?) and what about the speculation/news the rnc may be delayed because of hurricain possibilities in the south again?
i doube its mitt because dems will use his mccain debate responses against mccain in ads just like mccains is using hillary and bidens.
hmmm...maybe cincy would be a safe pick?

Re: McCain's VP????
LOL, I about fell out of my chair when I read that. My first order of business would be that when Ohio State makes it to the National Championship game they don't have to play an SEC team. Can I make policies like that? I mean, really, who's it going to harm? It's not like I'd be starting a war with some foreign country (just SEC Nation I guess)....floridafun wrote:hmmm...maybe cincy would be a safe pick?

Re: McCain's VP????
she is pro-illegal abortion, chose to give birth to her downs syndrome baby rather than abort. this is what cnn has---
Her biography on the state governor's Web site says one of the two major pieces of legislation passed during her first legislative session was a competitive process to construct a gas pipeline.
Palin started Alaska's Petroleum Systems Integrity Office, an oversight and maintenance agency for the state's oil and gas equipment, facilities and infrastructure. She created the Climate Change Subcabinet that would forge a climate change strategy, according to the Web site.
At present, Palin chairs the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, a multistate panel "that promotes the conservation and efficient recovery of domestic oil and natural gas resources while protecting health, safety and the environment," the biography says.
She has been named chair of the National Governors Association's Natural Resources Committee. That panel is focused on legislation to ensure that federal policies take state priorities into account in agriculture, energy, environmental protection and natural resource management.
She is a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and takes part in two of Alaska's popular pastimes -- fishing and hunting.
The governor's biography said Palin's other priorities have been "education and workforce development, public health and safety, and transportation and infrastructure development."
The biography touts other achievements during her time as governor -- the investment of $5 billion in state savings, overhaul of educational funding and implementation of a program to help low-income elderly Alaskans.
Born in Idaho, she is a longtime Alaskan and a Protestant. Her biography said she arrived in Alaska in 1964, "when her parents came to teach school in Skagway."
She graduated from Wasila High School in 1982 and received a bachelor of science degree in communications-journalism from the University of Idaho in 1987.
Her husband is Todd Palin, an oil production operator on Alaska's North Slope. They have five children, including a son who enlisted in the Army last year.
Congressional Quarterly notes Sarah Palin's other past occupations, including commercial fishing company owner, outdoor recreational equipment company owner and sports reporter.
Palin also made an unsuccessful run for lieutenant governor in 2002, Congressional Quarterly said

Re: McCain's VP????
From what I've seen so far the only thing is the investigation into the "abuse of power" which looks to be more like someone getting pissed they were fired for not doing their job then raising this stink to try and get back at her. Assuming her wiki profile is accurate the guy threatened to kill her father and tasered his 11 yr old stepson (at the kids request). Seems to be a wing-dinger to me.
About her though, I think it's about as ironic as BO choosing someone who's been around forever and running a campaign on change considering McCain is running on experience then picks someone with none. So both VP's pretty much are oxymoron's from their entire platform.
She went back to work 3 days after giving birth to her last son.. that's crazy.
I think it'll be interesting to see if the Dem's attack her much.... I think the media will be really critical of anyone coming down on her.
There's a Democrat Strategist on CNBC right now that sounds like a complete idiot. She's railing against Palin because she supports drilling, completely ignoring that Palin has taken on Big Oil.. and even better she's going after her inexperience.. she must have forgotten her own candidate has virtually no experience as well.

card i was NOT inferring that downs syndrome babies should be aborted.

Ms. Palin is known to conservatives for choosing not to have an abortion after learning two years ago that she was carrying a child with Down’s syndrome. “It is almost impossible to exaggerate how important that is to the conservative faith community,” Mr. Reed said.

Re: McCain's VP????
the idea touted earlier about mccains choice of inexperinced is no different for his veep than obamas choosing biden with many years as senator is--obama chose someone he felt would be able to handle the rigors of the office if the need arises.
from the same source as my last post--
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/30/us/politics/29palin.html
The choice of Ms. Palin was reminiscent of George H. W. Bush’s selection of Dan Quayle, a young United States senator, as his running mate in 1988. The media and most in the Republican Party were caught unaware by the announcement of a figure relatively unknown outside Indiana.
Similarly, several of Mr. McCain’s outside advisers reacted with bewilderment that Ms. Palin was the choice, and one said that it would undercut one of Mr. McCain’s central criticisms of Senator Obama — that he is too inexperienced to be commander in chief.
“While it’s a dramatic and interesting choice, it would make the argument he’s making difficult to make,” said the adviser, who is close to the campaign.

Interesting! I think that would be an extremely long gestation period for a human being... isn't it usually 40 weeks? The child with Downs was born in 04/08 so not sure how she could have known for 2 years...
