Oil prices on Thursday surged to an eight-month high above $73 a barrel after the western countries’ energy watchdog raised its forecast for global oil demand for the first time in almost a year.

The average price per gallon across the U.S. hit $2.81 this week, according to the Energy Information Administration. That was up from $1.81 the week of Jan. 26, 2009, just after the inauguration, and marks the highest price since Oct. 20, 2008

In all fairness, the stock market was down around 6,000 or so when he took office...and it's now over 10,000. Is Obama responsible for that? Maybe, maybe not. I highly doubt he's responsible for higher gas prices.
