Re: Voting information
i read on the net the dems vote tues and the repubs vote wednesday
i was happy last week when a coworker gave me her list of silly excuses why she just wont be able to get to the polls..but she is confident mccain will win so her missing vote wont hurt anything! i didnt want to pressure her into finding a way to vote seeing as she intended to vote for the loser..but i did give her the early-vote hours and tell her its really important this year!

I just got a call from someone at the Obama campaign to my cell phone asking to confirm my vote and offering transportation.
'Twas a nice gesture.

Radiohead's "Electioneering"
I will stop, I will stop at nothing.
Say the right things when electioneering
I trust I can rely on your vote.
Riot shields, voodoo economics,
it's just business, cattle prods and the I.M.F.

Hey, you know you're right. If I'm entitled to all this Hope and Change, it better come with a tax break and a free lunch.

The lines at the Marion County City & County building today were crazy... went around at least half the square block. A LOT of Obama voters.

Re: Voting information
If turnout is any indiciation of a win for Obama, McCain is in trouble...
I was at a city meeting last night, and they mentioned that there were 35000 absentee and early votes already, and that they were expecting 70% turnout, 155,000 people.

Nudist group wants clothing-optional polling site
Nov 3 04:14 PM US/Eastern
LAND O' LAKES, Fla. (AP) - A nudist community on Florida's west coast wants to establish the first clothing-optional polling site. The Caliente Resorts, located in Pasco County north of Tampa, has approached election officials about the idea.
Nothing in state law would prohibit it, but the supervisor of elections says he is opposed to creating any new precincts before redistricting in 2010.

Re: Voting information
That's weird. You mean people were openly discussing their excitement about Obama while in line? I have never any endorsement of a candidate while at the polling place. Once an individual is set to vote, there shouldn't be anything resembling campaigning.floridafun wrote:he said lotsa excitement about obama from most in the line

Last time I knew, having a discussion was covered under the first amendment. It's not campaigning if you're just having a frank discussion with fellow line mates. Christ... I guess you expect everyone in line to stand in silence.

From what we've seen on the news that's exactly what it appears that everyone is doing.

Re: Voting information
There was an incident in Marion County during the primaries where someone from the Obama campaign wrongly set up a table offering "assistance" to those who requested help with voting. Wearing pins or shirts with a candidates name or picture is illegal too. No, voters don't have to stand in silence, just don't endorse their candidate when at the polling place.Jugomugo wrote:Last time I knew, having a discussion was covered under the first amendment. That's different than standing in line to vote.

Re: Voting information
when i did my early vote people were eager to have quiet little discussions about their candidate..
far as hillary..wasnt it an exit interview? i am willing to bet it may have been close to crossing the "legal line" but didnt take that last step going across it. see people moving in line, not actually at voting machines?
leave it to faux to keep up their entertainment image
