Abuse like this is horrible. However, anyone else find it odd that she waited until he was dead and can't defend himself? Oh, and she's selling a book too.
People magazine says Phillips writes in her new book, "High on Arrival," that she had sex with her father on the night before she was to get married in 1979.

Re: Mackenzie Phillips
Let me start by saying that she was a little before my time. What TV show was she on? If I had to guess, I'd say One Day At a Time, but I'm not sure.
I'm not sure that I find stuff like this as odd anymore in the sense that she waits till after he's dead and she just happens to have a book coming out. Seems like that's the norm for these types of things. Don't get me wrong, I find the 'alleged' behavior very odd that happened way back when, but the actions she's taking now not so much.

Not defending her... her father died in 2001, I think that she is fighting her demons and this is just one of them that is coming out now... I don't think she would have waited 9 or 10 yrs to bring all this out in the open. She is back on Oprah with his Sister today... her sister says, she believes it is true.Markwes wrote:http://www.startribune.com/lifestyle/style/60669042.html?elr=KArksD:aDyaEP:kD:aUt:aDyaEP:kD:aUiacyKUnciaec8O7EyUrPeople magazine says Phillips writes in her new book, "High on Arrival," that she had sex with her father on the night before she was to get married in 1979.

I don't doubt that it's true. I just don't know how this is going to help her. If I understand correctly, she claims he forced himself on her the first time, and then after that it was consensual. And this was all after she turned 18. So I didn't get the impression she was fighting any demons, just trying to make a few bucks. And now the family, as screwed up as it is, has to live with this memory of the guy.iberlingirl wrote:Not defending her... her father died in 2001, I think that she is fighting her demons and this is just one of them that is coming out now... Re: Mackenzie Phillips
So 49 year old Mackenzie Philips was before your time but 65 year old Craig T. Nelson isn't??Cincy Fan 44 wrote:He kinded reminded me of Craig T. Nelson, only with hair.

And yeah, it was One Day at a Time. Or as Mad Magazine had for their parody, One Dame at a Time.

Yes, great show. And did you know that one of the assistant coaches from Coach (the blonde guy - don't know his name) is the voice of Patrick of Sponge Bob fame?Cincy Fan 44 wrote:Ever hear of "Coach"???Markwes wrote:So 49 year old Mackenzie Philips was before your time but 65 year old Craig T. The way I read the account, she said he put the needle in her arm the first time and got her high. Then she claims she then blacked out and came to when they were "en flagrante" and then blacked out again. The rest is now history.

Indeed. Although I'm sure if they tried the show in Canuckian-land they would have to focus on college hockey instead, eh?Canuck wrote:Cincy Fan 44 wrote:

Yes, that show was on here, I just never watched it.
Hey, what are you talking about, I saw the location where they are building the hockey arenas (I think three rinks).
The "TinHats" won the championship, however I didn't get the feeling they had the support of the city, I didn't see that many congratulatory signs around the city. I know, I know, tangent...I am sorry.
I think I was going on the path that Fort Wayne prefers hockey too...
