Nothing. I was thinking perhaps it would encourage more healthy food outlets to go in there. We They shall see.

In the article it stated they wanted sit down restaraunts. That means the likes of Applebee's, Chili's, TGIF, Outback etc. Items on those menu's are much worse than what is served at fast food restaraunts.

"Perry said that after speaking with restaurant lobbyists, she amended her proposal to allow for "fast-food casual" restaurants, such as Subway or Pastagina, that do not have heat lamps or drive-through windows and that prepare fresh food to order.

Perry said she has been attempting to address the health issues associated with fast food, such as diabetes and obesity. She is trying to persuade supermarket chains and sit-down restaurants to open in her district, which has been especially hard hit with such health problems."

Something I noticed about Fast Food places vs. Outback...I ate at the Outback for the first time in a LOOOOONG time this past weekend. I had their "No Rules Burger" with pickle, BBQ sauce, and american cheese, plus fries and their bread. Later, I checked my blood sugar, and it was really high.

Now, when I eat at a McDonald's or something like that, it is no where near that high. Granted, this is only ONE instance, and there can be a number of factors that would explain the high blood sugar.

But I can see where some would say that the Applebees/TGIFs/Outbacks of the world can be just as bad, if not worse than Fast Food.

Food for thought anyway.

This is a show that was done here in Canada regarding this issue.

I think it is important to be aware of the sodium content in foods as well.
You could never beat fresh, less processed foods.
