DETROIT (AP) -- General is releasing new, more fuel-efficient versions of its full-size pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles later this fall. The versions are known as XFE -- or extra fuel economy.
They'll be offered on the 2009 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks and Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon SUVs. The models will get one mile per gallon more in both city and highway fuel economy than non-XFE versions.
The boost will give them a total of 15 miles per gallon in the city and 21 on the highway.
GM says it's getting the improved economy through better aerodynamics and lighter-weight aluminum parts.

Re: More MPG for GM pickups
I saw a couple weeks ago that Ford is remodeling their F-150 to make it lighter... come on.. 1 more mpg in the city and they are touting this? That's embarrassing.
