So is anyone going to be watching?

Do you think it will be a policy speech or a campaign speech?

Will he actually submit the legistation to congress with what he wants. or will he just be the lazy president we have all come to know and just pass the buck. Then whine when the congress doesn't act?

Personnally I work 2nd shift so glad I won't be tempted to watch it. It is going to be more of a campaign speech. And yes he will not submit any legislation to congress because then he can continue to point fingers, too lazy to actually do anything himself, and can then use it as part of his campaign against the republicans.

This will be his 3rd stimulus plan, if he had any clue about how business worked his first 2 plans would not have been the failures they have been.

I suspect the majority of these "stimulated" jobs will be in construction, which just happens to be union heavy. And no, I'm not watching the speech.

Being the political junkie I am I did have it DVR'ed.

Wasn't as campaigny as I imagined it would have been. However he needs to find some new buzz words. This "needs to be passed today" got tiresome. Really if it needed passed today, why wasn't the bill in your hand handing it off to a congress person. Oh thats right you didn't write it yet!!! (coming in a couple of weeks glad it was all so important to pass today) Guess too much time on the golf course not enough time worrying about the American people while on Marthas Vineyard.

Next same old same old tax the rich. How about the 43% of the non taxpayers (i.e. freeloaders) in this country on April 15 send in a check for $500 to the treasury before anymore tax the rich speech. Which brings me to the other Warren Buffets secretary pays more percentage wise. How much is he paying his secretary. His income is all investments so that is 15%. Now I only pay 12% per turbo tax and I make more than an average secretary wages. So she is really paid well or need to get turbo tax to do her taxes. At the same time I bet Warren paid a little more than 15% before he could live off his investment income. Also Warren bought a railroad (BNSF). They are hiring, have brought back all there laid off workers, invested several billion in upkeep and new equipment. What has Warren's secretary done to improve the economy?

And one other thing the reason China can build new airports and hi speed rail....well they don't have 14+ trillion dollar debt.

Well completely surprised he did submit a bill. I will give him credit for that. Now what I don't like in the bill and ways to cut it.

35 billion for firefighters, police and teachers. Time for local gov't to live within its means.

15 billion for rehabing vacant homes and buildings. Really they are vacant for a reason, no need for busy work.

expand high speed internet no cost associated???

and how you going to do this "prohibit employers from discriminating against unemployed workers when hiring"?

49 billion in extending unemployment benefits. Really 3 years worth of UI. Some of the other things in the 49 billion maybe but no extension.

Really not to thrilled about the SS tax cut, since that isn't really a solvent plan.

http://ironicsurrealism.com/2011/09/25/obama-to-blacks-stop-complainin-take-off-your-bedroom-slippers-put-on-your-marching-shoes/

“It gets folks discouraged. I know. I listen to some of y’all,” Obama told an audience of some 3,000 in a darkened Washington convention center.

But he said blacks need to have faith in the future — and understand that the fight won’t be won if they don’t rally to his side.

“I need your help,” Obama said.
……
“Take off your bedroom slippers. Put on your marching shoes,” he said, his voice rising as applause and cheers mounted. “Shake it off. Stop complainin’. Stop grumblin’. Stop cryin’. We are going to press on. We have work to do.”

Now more than ever, I believe this guy needs to go. I almost don't care if the Republican nominee is my first choice as long as he/she can beat Obama. He's quite an eloquent speaker, so it's quite sickening to hear him use "y'all" as if all of the sudden he's "becoming black". And I guess he's implying that blacks are wearing their bedroom slippers because they are lazy? He is quickly losing support of those who supported him most.

Biden: Voters should blame-Obama, not Bush, for economy

WLRN on Thursday that voters should hold President Barack Obama, not former President George W. Bush, accountable for the poor state of America’s economy.

Conservative PAC American Crossroads circulated the startling statement Thursday afternoon, expecting it will take Democratic campaign strategists by surprise.

“Right now, understandably — totally legitimate — this is a referendum on Obama and Biden and the nature of the state of the economy,” Biden said.

Polls indicating that more Americans blame Bush for the economy than Obama are not relevant, Biden said.

“Even though fifty-some percent of the American people think that the economy tanked because of the last administration, that’s not relevant,” Biden stressed. “What’s relevant is we’re in charge. And right now we are the ones in charge and it’s gotten better, but it hasn’t gotten good enough.”

“I don’t blame them for being mad. We’re in charge,” Biden explained.

Biden did clarify that while the 2012 election is currently shaping up as a referendum on the Obama administration, “it’s soon going to be a choice.” He then launched into an on-air pitch for the president’s American Jobs Act.

For once, truth has been spoken in D.C. (except for the part about 'getting better'). How's will the WH spin this one? study

And then you have this dingbat.

http://hotair.com/archives/2011/09/29/obama-senior-adviser-valerie-jarrett-government-is-supposed-to-lift-people-out-of-poverty/

“We are working hard to lift people out of poverty and give them a better life, a footing, and that’s what government is supposed to do.”

Really? That's what government is supposed to do? Guess I never knew that. I say what government is supposed to do is to stand out of the way of the private sector and let them create jobs.

Obama Campaign Says GOP Blocking Jobs Bill--After Reid Blocks Jobs Bill

The Obama campaign sent out an email today asking supporters to urge Congress to at least vote on the president’s jobs bill almost immediately after Democratic majority leader Harry Reid blocked a vote on the bill in the Senate.

On the Senate floor today, Republican leader Mitch McConnell asked for unanimous consent to proceed on voting on the bill. Reid, who has struggled to find enough votes for the bill in the Democratic caucus, objected to the motion and killed the opportunity for a vote.

About ten minutes later, Jim Messina, Obama’s 2012 campaign manager, emailed this message to supporters:

President Obama is in Dallas today urging Americans who support the American Jobs Act to demand that Congress pass it already.

Though it's been nearly a month since he laid out this plan, House Republicans haven't acted to pass it. And House Majority Leader Eric Cantor is out there actually bragging that they won't even put the jobs package up for a vote -- ever.

It's not clear which part of the bill they now object to: building roads, hiring teachers, getting veterans back to work. They're willing to block the American Jobs Act -- and they think you won't do anything about it.

But here's something you can do: Find Republican members of Congress on Twitter, call them out, and demand they pass this bill.

So will the Obama campaign be asking its supporters to "call out" Harry Reid and "demand" he and Senate Democrats pass the bill?

November 2012 can't come quick enough.

This isn't about Obama (directly anyway) but I didn't feel like starting another thread. I did not watch the debate yesterday but I heard some snippets today. Are these candidates all 5 year-olds? Obama is the big winner with all the Republican candidates attacking each other. And I have decided that there is one criterion that will automatically prevent a candidate from getting my vote in the primary - talking about their plan to "create jobs". It's not the government's place and you would think they would have learned that from the failed policies of the sitting president. So Romney and Perry are already out of the running in the primary for me.

Speaking of jobs...

Reid says govt jobs must take priority over private-sector...

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Wednesday indicated Congress needs to worry about government jobs more than private-sector jobs, and that this is why Senate Democrats are pushing a bill aimed at shoring up teachers and first-responders.

"It's very clear that private-sector jobs have been doing just fine; it's the public-sector jobs where we've lost huge numbers, and that's what this legislation is all about," Reid said on the Senate floor.

Words cannot describe this man.
