Charley's at Glenbrook
We stopped recently for a quick lunch at the mall. Hubby tried the new Triple Cheese Cheesesteak at Charley's. It was very tasty. I ended up stopping a few days ago and shared one with my daughter. We both really liked it. She usually eats pretty light at lunch and gobbled it down.
Keep in mind I probably haven't had anything close to a "real" cheesesteak sammy so I don't know how it would compare to a more authentic one. But I'd love to go back for another already.

I'm guessing it doesn't even come close to an authentic cheesesteak from Geno's or Pat's.
However, I'd say Liberty Diner has a pretty damn good cheesesteak. It's your basic Midwestern cheesesteak but it's quite tasty.

I had high hopes when I heard they were opening, but soon found that they use peanut oil (for the fries) so no go.

Re: Charley's at Glenbrook
Peanut oil fries are just about the best fries in known existence.

Hello?
Penn Station.
I'm ashamed for forgetting about Penn Station's cheesteak.* I have failed you all.
* However, it's STILL not as good as a Geno's/Pats cheesesteak. They're just THAT good.

Do you have a peanut allergy, or just abhor peanut oil?

My son has a peanut allergy (as well as milk and egg) and we are a peanut/treenut free home. I have suspisions that my DH might have a very mild peanut allergy as well, so I try to avoid the places with peanut oil. And since I rarely get out without my kids , there's nil chance of a tasty authentic cheesesteak sammy from PS.

D'oh! Sorry, I'm used to using DH (dear or damn husband, depends on the topic!) at another board. Old habits die hard!
